We heard that this was a nice place, but in the end our experience was quite average with a few missteps. The meals seem a little bit expensive for what they were. We love fries , a lot of the meals on the menu propose fries, but somehow we did not have any with our meals. There was also a good quantity of salad on top of the food, we wondered if they were hiding something? They forgot to take my desert order, and my wife's chocalote tart was a bit too liquidy. Overall unfortunate not really up to expectations. Not very excited to return.Dear Darin B, Thank you for your return about your lunch or dinner at « Les Halles Saint-Grégoire ».Weâre sorry to hear that youâre a little bit disappointed. About the fries, if you've would like some with your meal, you should have let us know, we would have change your garnish without any problem. Concerning the desert, I donât explain why we forfot your order while we didnât forgot your wifeâs order ?? We're very sorry if it's our fault. For the next time - if there's one - do not hesitate to tell us if you want to change the garnish or anything (because we canât guess if you donât tell usâ¦)Thank you again however, we hope to see you soon !

Just 15 minutes outside of Rennes in Brittany lies L'Hermitage, a town I've known for many years. Today was my first opportunity to eat in "L'Eléphant", but we're already planning our return trip just before Christmas. The food was outstanding - I had the steak and chips, and it was a proper, tender piece of steak, cooked to perfection, and the chips were quite lovely. My wife, children and mother-in-law all had galettes (Breton savoury pancakes made with buckwheat flour). These were also excellent (and come highly recommended). My mother-in-law had the galette with scallops (St Jacques), and this went down a treat! The desserts were all lovely. I had the dessert of the day, an apple tart, which was served lovely and warm, and everyone else had the pancakes - the caramelised banana pancake came in for particular praise. Even the coffee afterwards was excellent! The service is first-rate, and I love the fact that you can look into the kitchen while the food is being cooked. Worth noting that most of the produce is locally sourced. Will look forward to our Christmas visit. Well Worth making the trip to L'Hermitage to eat at this restaurant!

Our third visit and a continuing good experience.Newly decorated but food just the same. We visited for lunch and the place was almost full. Neither of us were hugely hungry so we passed on starters although 6 oysters for 8 euros was tempting. I'd eaten a lot of red meat recently so had the chicken brochette which was nicely marinated with a few herbs and garlic I think and served with a parsley butter. Perfectly cooked too - charred but still moist and very tasty. My wife stuck with the entrecote also pronounced good if huge.As usual we shared the pain perdu for dessert and it was as delicious as we remembered. My favourite ever dessert.Coffee has improved and service excellent as ever. This place is a no-brainer whenever we visit Rennes.thank you very muchLe Crocodile

We really enjoyed the food at Le Congres, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, really chic and cosy and the staff were pleasant. Foodwise, the meat and sauces were delicious and the truffle mash was really exceptional. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere the only downside being that the music was too loud. Whilst we enjoyed the DJs choice of music, we were under a speaker and found it very hard to hear each other around our table of 5. We asked a few times for the music to be turned down but each time it seemed to creep back up to the same volume. In conclusion, I really reccomend this restaurant and will definitely be back, but we would have much preferred it if the music was a bit quieter.
