We came in at 1400 lunch time . Terrace was full. Normally the French treat tourists badly saying tables are reserved or there is no place . Not here a friendly host dat us at a table of 5 . Than the food . The wine was excellent . The food you could choose from a chalkboard was just excellent. . We had fish - sole with vegetables ... This was simply perfect , for the kids we had a special menu . Omelette with potatoes and cream and lettuce (rucola) . The food was simply excellent and very tasty . We decided to also have desert a right choice we had a lovely vanilla parfait with raspberry with a accommodating home made ice cream. The service was very good and friendly . This is unusual in France especially for tourists . I would give this place a big PLUS !!! Bill was ok 139 euro for 5 people very reasonable especially seems what we had.

I like this area. The restaurant seemed pretty good. We had a preset menu and I chose the duck breast. It was very good but served with no accompaniment. I think that most of the dishes were good. I would try the restaurant again.

We came here with our two sons after a visit to Puy de Dôme on a weekday afternoon. We know some French, but not much, and our server did not speak English. But together with a few words here and there, and a lot of smiles and hand gestures, we figured out what to order for the 4 of us. I will always appreciate her patience and kindness! The food was fantastic. I had the salad with regional cheeses, my husband had a potato and cream crêpe with ham, our sons had a pork chop and veal with cheese sauce. This was one of our favorite meals during our two weeks in France! And the location was very cozy.Bonjour Madame,Merci beaucoup pour votre petit mot. Nous sommes ravis que vous pensiez encore à nous une fois rentré chez vous en Oregon.Nous espèrons peut etre vous revoir lors de vos prochaines vacances. A très bientot.Marie

Expected great things from Hotel Radio restaurant but was badly disappointed. The dining room is very pleasant; well lit; comfortable and noise levels were OK even on a busy Monday evening. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Took the 6 course tasting menu which ends up as 8 or so with the amuses bouches. These were very nice.... The first starter of foie gras pressé with lots of "citricy" gels/purées was very nice. The next course, scallops with beetroot only tasted of beetroot of different textures and tastes - some just cooked; some highly acidic...overall it ruined the scallops which disappeared into the background. The next course - fish, St Pierre was not nice either. The fish was overcooked and had a rather anaemic colour - tasted as though it had been kept warm on the pass for too long. The accompanying sauce and the tartare of seaweed were over-flavoured (lemon) and very salty. Overall, not a nice dish although the accompanying little tart of quinoa cooked in squid ink was very tasty. The meat course was slow cooked veal - sous-vide I would guess with some crispy veal sweetbreads. The veal was OK but the taste again spoiled by a thickened gloopy sauce and celery everywhere - confit with the sweetbreads and a puree with the veal.... The desserts were nice... and very pretty. Excellent cheese board.Sad. Having eaten in hundreds of Michelin starred restaurants around the world, this one just doesn't add up on the food front.

Honestly, I have convinced myself to lower my expectation on Michelin 1 star over the years because of how it could turn out to be a overcharged dining experience in fancy places with average food. Le Pre, however, totally caught me by surprise from the start with its very delicate amuse bouche with local produce (the St Nectar cheese was totally unforgettable). There were two menu (one 60ish and one 90ish) and because of how full we were that day we only went for the former. It was good enough with its six courses meal. It was creative and rich. We had this escargot with special foam and the texture of escargot was hence amazing with different layers of ingredients. We also have this egg with a tasty green sauce on the base and one was just so amazed when we reached to the bottom of this tempting appetiser. The two main (fish and pork) were equally good. Especially for the fish, it was soooo tender ( to the extent that it felt like a half raw and half rightly steamed Chinese/Japanese style fish). The dessert was also very good we had this amazing and refreshing citrus dessert.Really don't miss this restaurant. Everything was amazing, service was impeccable. What a nice visit and what justice it did to the hometown of Michelin.

A good meal but I can't say much about the menu. Everyone had truffade and everyone enjoyed it, the rest, I don't know. The kids meals were good and quick. Along with a good wine and a coffee and I can't complain. A good place to stop on the way to or from the Puy.

We were staying at the Logis hotel opposite and read the reviews for the restaurant which were really good. Fortunately they had space for the 4 of us and it was as good as it's reviews. The location is non-descript outside but nicely decorated inside in traditional french style. The menu choices were slightly limited to two fixed menus. Our children are now grown up (19 & 23) and were happy to try new types of food. When they were younger we mighty have struggled to find food they would eat here. The food though was excellent. Good traditional french food, well cooked and well presented. Good wine list including many local wines. If you are in the area it's worth a trip here.

We had one night in Clermont-Ferrand and chanced upon this restaurant - a lucky chance! We were attracted in because She Who Must Be Obeyed is a vegetarian (actually pescetarian but let's not get hung up) and the menu promised a plat du jour végétarien, which is helpful in France. I'm properly carnivorous so easier to please. The restaurant is tiny, there were a couple of groups of 6 or more already in and a couple of tables for 2 available - we were seated at one of those. The place is modern, and I suspect trendy, but I'm of an age where I'm not sure what trendy is, and certainly not French trendy. The staff were young, (30 something) at any rate, as were most of the customers. The waiter didn't seem to have any English and my French is not great but we got by. He was very pleasant. I had a vegetable risotto, a millefous of aubergine and beef and a chocolate fondant with a cherry sorbet, SWMBO had a starter of cold soup which we don't know the name of, a risotto like my starter (she said the rice was cheesey - I'd have said creamy but what do I know?) and something which I translated as strawberry soup - it was like a liquidised intense strawberry delicious something, she tells me. It was all delicious - my pudding was gorgeous, proper tasty as I informed the waiter - not that he knew what I was on about! The bill, with beer, wine and a coffee, came to â¬60 and some change. Money well spent. We would certainly return.
