We tumbled on this gem out of pure coincidence. It has to really be one of the best restaurants in France, hidden away in between gorgeous fields of lavender. Make the extra effort, go up the gravel road and let yourself be surprised by the magnificence. Not only of the food, but the kindness of the people, the view, the swimming pool (bring your togs!). Thank you Richard and SylvieThank you so much.....See you later.Best Regards

My wife and I have eaten at many of the local restaurants in and around Forcalquier but our recent lunch at L'Auberge du Bois was both delightful and faultless and provided one of our most pleasant experiences.Located on a side road off the D4100 just east of the village of Niozelles, lunch seating was arranged under the trees and around the central fountain providing a glorious setting. The food was thoughtful and tasty and service attentive but not intrusive. My beef dish was the best I have had in France.Accommodation is also available. The young couple who operate the auberge have only taken over about 3 months ago and we wish them all the best. Strongly recommended.

Typical cuisine provencale. Always fresh ingredients, herbs and greens mostly home grown. Start with a pizza for large eaters, they are renowned in the village. But there are more items on the menu, mainly local like pieds & pacquets. Desserts, cakes and so on âfait maisonâ changing with the seasons. Try the homemade tarte tatin or the peach soup with verveine icecream. Youâll be addicted, like I am by now. And donât forget to try the wines, youâll be surprised by the quality and the price. Bon appétit.

Very busy little town on market day, and this little brasserie was already pretty full at 11.30! Had a lovely refreshing beer, followed by Menu du Jour at 9â¬. Steak with onion sauce, home made puree and tomates provencales. Delicious! Excellent value for money and the Staff were very friendly and kind.

Crêperie Celtic & Resto-Art.
Charming discovery on a quiet back street in Oraison. Creperie Celtique ResturantDiscovered this charming little restaurant by accident wandering the back streets of Oraison and have been returning on a regular basis. Run by a lovely Irish couple Edward and Florence. Not typically French, especially the tasty fish & chips. The appetizer salads are fresh and beautifully presented, a meal in itself.Edward, the chef prepares all the dishes himself. He also has a great love of cinema which can be seen in the movie memorabilia on the walls. Get him started talking about his favorites and you are in for the evening. The prices are very affordable.

We came to this restaurant with no expectations, it was close to our Airbnb, but were pleasantly surprised. We were sitting outside next to an old fountain. The service was no nonsense but lovely and efficient. The food was great ; very tasty lamb and one of the best beef tartar I had recently. Very nice ratatouille on the side as well. The red wine, a 2015 Gigondas, was light and well balanced. Great little place!

took a bit longer than expected to find this place as slightly tucked away but easy to find when one knows where it is. Excellent galettes and just what we needed after rather more sophisticated eating up to them.Good atmosphere and seemed to be pretty busy all the time we were there.
