We ordered the plain raclette at 5.30pm on the phone from the owner ( he speaks good English and discussed what we might have)He was to deliver it to our chaletThe raclette device and food arrived on time less than 2 hours later .Lots and lots of cheese and meats and delicious potatoes plus a green salad .About 15 Euros per head for a very good meal . Recommended. You drop the device off the following day at one of several venues or they will get it from you.

If you visit Serre Chevalier, you must book an evening at this extremely genuine French restaurant. The owner and staff are wonderfully nice. They present the entire menu orally to all guests and the charm is huge. You pick your own wine and open with the opener at their table. There is everything from the French food and a lot of the ingredients are local. Everything tastes great and here is everything you want in French cuisine. Terrains of different kinds seem to be a specialty. Steak Tartar, Grilled Chicken, Fois Gras, Snails, Wonderful Desserts such as Tarte Tatin, Rhubarb Pie, Chocolate Fondant, Chocolate Mousse. They also had Lamm that night with lenses. It was an experience to eat here and I really recommend this cozy restaurant that has few tables and you have to book before. This restaurant also only takes cash, not cards.//Mats Samaras, Stockholm, Sweden

The Refuge Chardonnet was our set off point at 2227m for the traverse of Cretes du Raisin Parcours des aretes. It is a charming looking refuge that is kept well clean by its extremely friendly staff. The hike up from the parking area is less than 40 minutes, very easy and worth it for the pretty view over the meadows to the mountains. After our climb we thoroughly enjoyed the enormous portion of fresh salad with warm goats cheese and the omelette with goats cheese & cured beef. It looked and tasted amazing and not only because we deserved it after a 5 1/2 hour climb. The cappuccino was also wonderful. This is a lovely destination by itself or you can set off for bigger adventures from here.

We came here after a nice trekking in the very nice and green valley of the Clarée river, in June there are many nice flowers. The people in the restaurant are very nice, the two cookers work in the kitchen and the wife serves in the dining room. We took the 28 Euros menu with three courses. All the meals are done with local ingrédients, meats and vegetables. The house paté is nice as starter. We have chosen the lamb foot and tripe as a main course (but of course they have other nice meals, steaks etc. but try this rural meal). Nice desserts (look at the pictures) made by the cookers. Nice wines from the erea. Ask to have small pieces of local choose to taste them (it is a pity it is not include in the meal with that price). The dining room was built in the 18th century vaults. The restaurant is at the end of the village after the high Church.

This is a well positioned small restaurant in the heart of the valley near Névache. It is very pretty inside and has a lovely garden opposite, which borders the river - a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch before you attack one of the valleys excellent walks. The food is good and well presented. It isn't cheap, but in all honesty the standard of the tarts merited the price. The service is a bit varied however. The couple who run it seem to be smiley one minute and sullen the next - a shame really as otherwise it would be perfect.

This restaurant few meters away from the village serves very good local food. The terrasse is in a charming garden surrounded by a little creek. Service is efficient and friendly. The price is reasonable considering the high quality of ingredients. Portions are quite large.
