We found this stop on the Truckfly app. Trucking with hubby for the week wee tried to use local restaurants rather than motorway aires. The host was friendly enough and the cold meat starter was lovely. The turkey in cream sauces however was off, no other way to describe it - rancid. The smell hit you as soon as you cut into it although I didn't put two and two together quick enough not to take one bite. Horrific. We ate the frites and beans and explained to the elderly lady when she came to take our plates. She was so rude, said it was the vin blanc in the sauce we could smell and that the food was tres bon. She snatched the plates away and brought dessert- never been so glad to have ordered fruit salad! Such a shame but luckily the only bad experience of the week.

The restaurant on this hotel is just by the Montbard train station.I have to say the set menu price is very cheap compare to other places. However its not that great. Just average. But definitely due to its location, a good place to sit and people watch.

Stayed on half board basis. We were 3 couples and stayed in the Accommodation in Rougemont (3 Kms from le Marronier), an old farm and "maison de maitre" that have been reconverted in accommodation and Lodging when the Marronnier logis is full. Le Marronier is a family owned business, located right on the Burgundy canal and different members of the family drove us back and forth from restaurant to accommodation, as we parked our bikes for the night at the back of the restaurant. There was a fridge with beer and honesty box, tea and coffee facilities at the Rougemont accommodation. We had bought a bottle of wine (from the bar) to drink as an aperitif and the staff put 6 wine glasses in the fridge. Such a nice gesture! The food at the restaurant was great, attentive service and very reasonable bill. The owner gave us 2 different wines for us to try and gave us explanation. We sat and had dinner outside on the terrasse and had breakfast inside. Generous breakfast with juice, bread, croissant, pain au chocolat etc. Would definitely recommend to stop there if you are cycling along the Burgundy canal.

La brasserie convient pour un repas rapide entre collègues le midi.Les salades sont à éviter on mange plus de feuilles que de garniture. Les frites et les burgers sont aléatoires, parfois a peine cuits, parfois excellemment bien cuisinés...

The restaurant was run by the same family that runs the hotel. Food is good and service is good. It's also good that due to also running a hotel, the couple speaks English.

Had lunch here as we couldn't find anywhere else nearby that suited. Uninspiring from the outside but there is an inside dining area and a covered terrace. Dog friendly. Extensive menu of salads and pizzas, as well as an a la carte. Wide selection of wines - the house pichet was very good. Service slow but otherwise good. Restaurant soon filled up with local business people having lunch, and that's always a good sign. We had salad Norvegienne (smoked salmon salad) which was excellent. Recommended if you're passing.

Discovered this restaurant by accident. Lovely attentive staff seems limited English but that's fine as we are in France! Really nice Lamb shank and the kids enjoyed their pizza. We wanted to drink more but the drinks were slow in coming. Toilets very clean, 5 stars.

Unpretentious small restaurant run by Patricia and Gilles Muzel. Relatively expensive for the area, but quality is first-rate. A delicious starter dish of fresh foie gras poelé with a crisp thin apple base and a small chutney accompaniment, followed by sublime ris de veaux with an interesting macedoine of vegetables, washed down with a half bottle of Pouilly Fume and another of Saumur Champigny cost 104 Euros. Worth every cent.

The Anatole and Arthemiss Bistro/Salon de The is a wonderful place to stop if in the Montbard area - like visiting the World Heritage site - the Abbaye de Fontenay. My wife and I had lunch here and it was delicious -- homemade pate, small salad, a slice of vegetable terrine (with wonderful pieces of fresh vegetable in the terrine), and a glass of wine. Perfect size lunch and very tasty. In addition, the madame who was chef/waitress/and part owner I think was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely stop in again if visiting the Montbard area (Northern Burgundy).
