Visiting St Pierre Sur Dive on our motor bikes we needed some late lunch and we happened to see this restaurant cafe wine bar was open on the main road. It was late so the main kitchen was closed but they made us some delicious sandwiches. The menu looked exquisite and we would love to go back to try their lunch and/or dinner.

Also called La Puce à l'Oreille (a flea in the ear), this restaurant was recommended to us by the owners of the accommodation we were renting locally for its good food and slightly eccentric entertainment via an assortment of old mechanical instruments. We were a large group of 13, celebrating a birthday and the owners of this restaurant could not have been more accommodating. First and foremost, the food was lovely, and they went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted, explaining the dishes in broken English (which was far better than our French) and generally being very patient with us. Despite the size of our group, at each stage of our meal, all the food came out together so nobody was left waiting, it was all hot, and the portion sizes were spot on. At â¬21 for 3 courses or â¬23 for 4 courses it was excellent value too, and the house wine went down a treat, making this one of the best and cheapest meals we have had out in a long time.Whilst the proprietors may be old in years, they are young at heart, and after our meal a side-splitting Charlie Chaplin style encounter between our birthday girl, the chef / proprietor and an accordion, with some fairly loose translation, had our party â and the other table in the restaurant â roaring with laughter. This was followed by two further equally funny episodes where various instruments or props were produced for our entertainment. Despite our lively evening there, Iâm sure the owners would be equally respectful of those wanting an intimate dinner for two or quiet meal without interruption (though Iâm not sure if you get a choice on the mechanical instruments playing occasionally during the meal â that seems to be part of the deal here). Highly recommended â though you need to book.

By Parisien standards not the most stylish place, however this bar and restaurant is the meeting place in Vimoutiers.A regular watering hole for locals it's always packed with farmers, local Artisans and tradesmen as well as family groups. The staff are wonderfully friendly particularly if you're a regular. In warmer weather tables , chairs and umbrellas fill the pavement from where you can watch life go by. Once 12 o'clock arrives both ground and first floor are bustling with customers taking lunch. We tried omelette, frites with salad. Omelettes were fresh and light, and the salad although just lettuce was freshly crisp with a light dressing. As always bread is available as much as you can eat. Brilliant value for money

This traditional Normandy auberge offers excellent tradtional French cuisine in a local Normandy style. Situated in the centre of Notre Dame de Courson, you can hear the old bell in the church chime as you enjoy dinner. Service is efficient, friendly and personal and the different menus offer a chance to enjoy some of the special ingredients the locality has to offer cooked with style. The presentation is good and the flavours excellent. Dishes vary from the traditional to the more exotic and all at a reasonable price. This auberge is popular with locals and visitors alike and every time I have dined here, I have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend

No card menu but one menu on storyboard who change every day homemade cooking , homemade dessert . new terrasse . ask for kids menu it's always possible. vegetarien
A homely, friendly restaurant which was well maintained inside and out. As our French was limited the owner kindly spoke in English. My husband had parma ham and melon starter and I had a salmon terrine, both were well presented and ample portions. Our second course was pork. This meal was equally well presented and the pork was very tender and tasty served in a piquant sauce with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately we were too full to enjoy their apple pie. The meal with two carafes of wine came to under 20E, great value and definitely a restaurant to recommend to others.

Six of us arrived at 7pm and were the first customers. It was a fine evening, and we enjoyed sitting outside. We had the 'flammekueche' which were a bit like a very tasty variation on a pizza. These tasted very good. The best was probably the fruits de mer calzone version that my wife had. The restaurant filled up fairly quickly after 7:30, and we eventually left at about 9:30 after two courses and no coffee. The food is individually prepared, and that takes time, and we were there for a sociable evening. I would not recommend the restaurant to somebody in a hurry, though. The bill, including drinks was about 135 Euros for 6 of us (3 drinkers). I can particularly recommend the house red wine, which was very special and good value.Dear Richard H,Iâm glad that you enjoyed our food and atmosphere. As you explain, the restaurant filled up very quickly, this Wednesday 12 august, and we refused many customers for a second service to keep a reasonable waiting time, thing that a few restaurants accept to do. Personally I would not recommend any restaurant to somebody hurry. By restaurant I mean a place where somebody really cook, really fresh products, individually prepared. In that case, I recommend a self-service or a piece of bread with cheese to eat in the street (what I do). It amazes me that I have to tell such a basic thing: cooking takes time⦠You donât specify what you had for 135⬠for six, except the seafood croustiâflam. You seem to find the price quite expensive? (3/5 for value) You donât tell you had the most expensive dishes of our menu. You had for starter charcuterie Pata Negra bellota, the finest quality of charcuterie, 9,50⬠(youâll found it in Paris or London for double price). Bruschetta, 7â¬, with an exceptional local organic goat cheese made from whey, jambon de Parme - not jambon sec - and tasty cherry tomatoes « cÅur de pigeon » also from a local farm, served on an organic sourdough bread made from local wheat and baking in a wood-fired oven. You had also large croustiâflam made from local products for mainly organic.Incidentally, to offer you this quality in a small town like Vimoutiers, I have to use my car, which use expensive petrol (not organic, I reconize !) and take time. Regrettably, this quality not arrives alone at Vimoutiers. But all our effort to offer to our customers this exceptional quality of products, which we rather find in big city, may explain why, finally, you found the food was good. The bottle of « very special » - and also organic - red wine you had cost you 13â¬. Kind Regards

Very friendly pleasant atmosphere. The owners made us feel very welcome and helped with translating when we required it. Lovely home cooked food, large portions.. certainly to be recommended.

This, les Routiers restaurant, roughly halfway between Livarot, and Vimoutiers, serves some of the most delicious dishes, at prices that are FAR from eye-watering. Madames' husband is a chef with a deft touch, and in the 7 odd years we've visited Livarot, and dined at Corrine's we've never been disappointed; Christmas included.Decor is; a bit 70s throwback, but who cares; you don't eat the wallpaper, or the ceiling tiles, do you? Many thanks to the Bar owner @ la Place de la Republique, Livarot for recommending Les Mille; quirky it may be, the entry door 'squack' might frighten your granny, but the food and service is brilliant!

Lovely country lunch. The dayâs menu has many options, everything fresh, very nice people, English spoken. Country pate, fresh greens, fresh fish, hams, trilogy dessert course(!) and, here in Camembert country, many dishes served with Camembert sauce or Camembert croutons! Outstanding yet very simple, casual.

We've eaten here lots of times and always enjoy a crepe when we visit our little house near Livarot and have taken many friends. Atmosphere is relaxed and a good selection of both savoury and sweet crepes. Nathalie and Joackim work very hard and long hours after Joackim has been at his day job as a fireman. The restaurant is always busy, watch out tho' for Joackim's measure of liquer in the puddings!!! and he always gives us another calvados free to complete our meal!
