Dropped in here at the recommendation of our hotel.Modern surroundings and very hospitable staff.Food was lovely and kids well catered for. Would recommend the stew or the fish. Homemade fries were fab and well polished off by the table.Good value for money also with it being very reasonable for a family of five. Why not five star....... ? More choice other than chips maybe

Visited while staying at a nearby guest house. Small simple unpretentious bar, with an area set aside with space for a miximum of 16 diners. Especially friendly place, I walked in never having visited before and was greeted warmly by the barman who came out fo behind the bar to shake my hand and bid me welcome. Pleasant modern clean with bright decor, but typical of the whole area - English speakers are likely to be very limited. Shown to a table, the lady proprietor then came and after getting me a drink took my order. Small limited menu - on a blackboard. This however only contains the starters and deserts. Choice of cahrcuterie, toast with either brie or camembert and tartare of either scallops or salmon. I chose the scallop tartare, which was fine. Mains - well there is the dish of the day - which naturally they push - but there turned out to be a choice of about 4 or 5 other dishes - depends what they had that day which I only learned about after ordering by watching/listening to what other customers asked for. Anyway dish of the day was a beef brochette - pieces of beef grilled on skewers. The beef was superb, if told it was fillet steak on the skewers I would not have been surprised, tender, delicate, no fat at all quite delicious with some good French mustard, chips and green salad. Thhis was not fine dining but good quality simple delicious food. Deserts were a choice of 3 tarts or ice cream, and a chocolate desert I could not fathom. Thurned out to be a small chocolate cake with a chocolate fondant filling, very nice. Delicious bottle of Cotes du Rhone Villages - no wine list, so when I asked for one, and replying that I would prefer red, they brought 4 bottles of to the table for me to choose.Food was a bargain, about 18 Euros if I remember. Staff were so friendly I stayed drinking at the bar - where the locals were also very amenable and generoussly bought me drinks. A fun international evening ensued. An enjoyable and welcoming place.

Marc Meurin is a local lad (he was born in Lens) and he loves fine produce. The two Michelin stars is always bursting with projects and ideas, and when he heard the Louvre was opening in Lens, it just seemed obvious to take the reins of the restaurant at
Really enjoyable, good value, very well prepared interesting food, with an attentive team looking after us.I am ashamed to say we were pleased when they brought us the menu in English.A really pleasant end of day, a spring evening, looking out on the trees and watching the sun set, after a rather sombre time exploring the battlefields around Arras.

Our group of 4 Canadians decided to stop and have lunch at this restaurant which contained numerous collectibles and artifacts associated with historic coal mines located nearby. Good service and excellent food including a good selection of French beer. As Canadians, our one complaint was the numerous attendees who chose to smoke in the restaurant, an act that is prohibited in Can.Dear Zaozirny, No one is allowed to smoke in our restaurant. You probably talk about the fact that guests are allowed to smoke in the entrance wich is covered but outside...Despite a good feeling about our job you care about something wich doesn't belong to us...Curious way to appreciate someone's job..I can't say thank you. Thanks for coming anyway

Restaurant Bistronomique La Semaine Un Plat Du Jour A 12,00 Euros Une Formule Du Jour A 22,00 Euros Et Une Ardoise Des Découvertes Du Chef Et Son Ãquipe ...
We had a wonderful evening meal on a really hot night. The food was great and a very reasonable price (despite the problems with our currency!) Service was OK but were serenaded by a duo playing some very nice music We also had our breakfast there but that was a big problem. I think they were trying to manage breakfast as they would an evening meal but I think there were too many chefs and not enough servers - definitely the wrong way round. Get that balance right and I am sure breakfast will be equally as good as the evening meals

I'm tempted to rate this more highly but don't want to give other visitors unrealistic expectations. It's a "chips-with-everything" restaurant, but the cooking is sound and the chips good, and the service is friendly. There is a reasonably-priced plat du jour and a choice of other dishes. The place was full when we arrived, but the staff contrived to make room for us and looked after us well. Not a bad watering-hole if you are visiting the new Louvre, but it would be as well to get there early or reserve - other visitors have discovered it!

Lovely little restaurant just a short walk from the centre of Lens. Very efficient friendly young staff and a small open busy kitchen. Really good regional food and beer at very good prices. Very good online booking and contact system.Highly recommended. Thanks for everything.Best regards,Vincent Le Cesarine

Chez Marcel showcases an excellent range of artisan beers both draft and bottled. Accompany an of these with any of the super platters of cold cuts of meat or cheeses or a bit of both - heaven.Marcel also has a great knowledge of his products. Thanks Phil ! I took some clients to The French House on Sunday. It was moderately busy and seemed to have plenty of staff on duty. But the service was very slow, there were problems with the orders, and there were issues with the food. The green salad was off, meat was in one case very overcooked and in another undercooked. And the staff were inattentive. I won't be going back.Sorry for all.
