The Restaurant Txotx is a traditional french brasserie offering a gourmet and delicious menu. You will discover typical basque food with a selection of tapas, veal axoa, ceps omelette, squids in an ink sauce, etc. Every day during the week, our team in th
I have been several times in this restaurant, and after I read the English comments, here are a few tips:The Basque country (Euskadi) might be administratively shared between Spain and France, it is a country, so this is NOT a Spanish restaurant, and you won't find paella. Would you Imagine tourists saying Glasgow is in England?A cidrerie is originally a cider house, and traditionally you could eat there, Of course they don't make cider here, but they have the food, and the cider.Basque cider, as it's Galician and Asturian cousins, ain't like English cider, it's more acid, give it a try, and expect something different. They have a cider made by young folks in Hasparen ( that's the name of a small city) I really liked, ask for it.The meat is awesome, and so is the fish, hard to choose. The service is friendly and local, if you can speak French, you may learn about what they serve, they'll be happy to tell.Desserts are huge...

Thin, crispy pizza base topped generously with delicious toppings. I shared a pizza with my boy of 10 and there was plenty for the two of us. I can't wait to go back again.Merci !!!

Long tables, poor service, terrible free cider drinks, and a lot of meat, that is typical for this restaurant

A beautiful and friendly restaurant. We had lunch here after we found out that a lot of restaurants are closed on Monday (not always mentioned correct on TA).Very friendly served, very nice food and wine, and very good price!

Very nice food, not a great location, but very good otherwise. Good price, reasonably wide menu. Doing their best in an odd area.

I went three with my family and was really surprised with a food. Delicious ! Every day there is different menu that includes dishes based on local products. Some waiteres speak English. Truely recommend, you may surely eat a great dinner with good price.

My wife and I ate here for her birthday. We knew the restaurant for many years in its previous incarnation as La Terrasse and were curious to see what had changed with the new owners............Wow!! What a change!!First impressions - Modern design-led décor with bright colours give a vibrancy to the whole dining experience before you've even sat down - on the really comfortable purple tub chairs! The welcome was business-like and warm. We had booked for 8.30pm and it looked like we were the first - but it appeared that everyone else had too and within 30 minutes there were at least 30 covers seated. We weren't rushed - the menu was different. Not pages of formulaic stuff, but half a dozen choices at each course and beautifully described. We had two glasses of Kir Royale whilst we perused and a were brought a plate of delicious "amuses-bouches". We ordered and the maître d'hôtel (who I believe is the wife of the chef) took time to explain everything. While we waited for our food, we were treated to a small glass of chilled tomato & basil soup topped with a goat's cheese foam.My wife had a chilled mousse of foie gras that had been poached in port with a beetroot compote and fresh almonds. I had a "breakfast" of langoustines, with the shellfish being presented five different ways including a teapot of langoustine consommé which ranks amongst the best thing I have ever tasted. For our second course, my wife had pigeon three ways with a delicious jus and I had lamb three ways, cooked with black garlic and served on a bed of butter beans. The cheese board was presented at the table and the selection was very local with artisanal Pyrenéean cheeses from the whole east-west spectrum and including both sheep, cows and mixed cheeses and also a particularly good blue which was as good as any Stilton or Roquefort.Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, my wife's choice of a beautifully crafted dessert of 80% cocoa was just delicious - enough after the richness of the meal so far. My dessert was a taste sensation - a marriage of sweet ripe Garriguette strawberries with a black olive & basil dressing, served with a strawberry sorbet in a tuille cone topped with a pistachio cream top. Amazing. The wines were what you would expect for a restaurant of this level and I chose a red wine from the Languedoc for â¬30.Service was excellent - unhurried yet attentive and a brief explanation of each plate was given as the food was placed. Coffee was accompanied by petit-fours - homemade - and were a final flourish to end a wonderful evening. All in â¬200 for the two of us. Somewhere to go for a special occasion knowing that it will truly be special! We thanked the Maitre d'hôtel and as we were walking to our car parked behind the restaurant, the chef-patron appeared from the service entrance and thanked us personally for coming to the restaurant. A nice touch. We will be back soon.

Terrific local feel. Packed on off season Saturday night. Let us eat at bar. Four of us and it worked. Staff is so friendly and explained all. Everyone loved the food. With 2 drinks each and full stomachs we spent 12 euro each Inc tip. Have a fun night in Pau at a Spanish tapas bar.
