The waitress was very very rude, so we left before ordering. She was unhelpful and shouted at us for moving some tables together so our two families could sit together. It was a big mistake stopping there.

We had been touring the area, visiting small villages and the after seeing the Concentration Camp (the only Extermination Camp in France during the Nazi Regime), we stumbled upon this Inn on an unusually cold Sunday in early June. There was seating outside but everyone was inside as it was cold. We were welcomed warmly and brought an Amuse Bouche while looking at the menu. We all opted for the menu of the day (22 euros per person) and proceeded to have one of the best meals I have ever had. The starter was a salad with fresh veggies and meats and a great dressing, then on to a smoked blade of pork with sauerkraut and then the dessert of the day was cooked rhubarb with fresh strawberries, cream, ice cream and a little chocolate cup. I usually take pics of all my meals for Trip Advisor but failed to do so here as I immediately tucked into what was put in front of me. The Alsatian menu was extraordinary and they actually brought an extra pot of the main, just in case we wanted more. We did not as the portions were enormous. The quality of the food was very high and the freshness incredible. What a gem, tucked in a small village. We then all ordered coffee which came with an unusual :sugar" bowl and a plate of moist cake. Needless to say we all rolled out of there. While there we noticed we were the only non-locals as everyone else there were in big groups, mostly celebrating birthdays and family Sunday dinner. Would definitely return.

We last visited in July 2016.This time we chose the 48⬠set menu. Three tasty amuse bouche served separately: curry-flavoured panna cotta on biscuit and cheese-stuffed chocolates, pine-bud flavoured ploenta cubes, and hay vinegar-flavoured nettle soup with Jerusalem artichoke chips. This was followed by snails on discs of parsley mousse in a bed of spinach puree and then a soft-boiled egg with a crusty coating in a wild garlic soup. This was followed by a tender rare poire de boeuf which was presented to us, before being cut, surrounded by smoking wood chips. We shared the optional cheese board which included Scottish red cheddar! The dessert was full of flavours with a light saffron sponge covered with different tasty pieces, an almond ice and saffron-flavoured crème anglaise. The service was very good although the meal descriptions were rather difficult to understand. But the staff were helpful in their explanations. They were helpful in their wine suggestions and offering a taste to see if the wine was acceptable. After the lunch the young chef appeared to discuss the meal with those still seated saying he would be out in the afternoon collecting wild leeks, carrots, ransomes and other herbs. There is a table for two in front of the kitchen door the serving staff have to pass all the time which could be distracting for some.We won't be leaving a ten month gap before our next visit!

Arrived in a snowy evening for dinner of 5. Wonderful local ambiance, excellent service and the food is just delicious. Reasonable pricing, wonderful local dishes. Kids menu for less then 10 Euro include desserts. Lots of options for vegetarians.

Specialising in duck - confit, Margret, foie gras etc. that are raised on the farm, this is a great place for lunch, as it is not open many evenings. While not haute cuisine it serves authentic family French cuisine that is delicious and in very generous family size portions. It's like joining a French family for their Sunday lunch. Simply done yet genuine and the best home cooked meal you'll find.

Coming in this general direction from Mount Ste-Odile, we had no idea where we were going to have a late Sunday lunch until we came to this lovely town nestled in the mountains. This restaurant looked like the best option since the parking areas near it were full - a good sign. We ended up parking in public parking -no fee- on rue du Wittertalhof - a short walk away. A wide selection on their menu. The patrons seemed to be local people. We ordered Gratin de Homard and Saumon Sauvage sur Salade followed by desserts of Gratin de Fraises and a Mousse Toblerone. Accompanied by a beer and a glass of Pinot Gris. A leisurely meal over a couple hours. An excellent meal and an excellent value for 64 euros.A recommended restaurant.

We had 20+ for a party and were served Choucroute. Great food and even better service. Very cozy atmosphere too just off the Alsatian Wine route. Highly recommended.
