Charming, old fashioned French roadside restaurant with a twist. The twist being that the road is the Col du Mont Cenis, a pass between France and Italy, and the altitude is 2083m/6834ft.So in summer car-borne tourists can loll over a cold one watching hard-as-teak cyclists add the Col to their list of conquests. In winter (this review) the Relais becomes a handy mountain restaurant, but in good weather customers still relax outside taking in the lunar landscape along with the rays. Access is either via the red Goulet piste or on foot from the summit of the high speed Ramasse chairlift from Lanslebourg. There are snow-shoe walking circuits at the col and sometimes walkers outnumber skiers at the Relais â a welcome reminder that there can be more to winter holidays than skiing.Inside there is a very traditional bar and restaurant of the old style, festooned with mountain, skiing and cycling memorabilia and pictures. Unlike many Val Cenis on-mountain pit stops there is a substantial amount of room inside, a welcome edge in poor weather. Food is as traditional as the décor, but wholesome and served in generous portions. Local Diot sausages are juicy and tender, and the tartiflette here is piquant and sticky with melting cheese. Dessert options include a range of good fruit tarts which (if you are on holiday) count towards your five-a-day.A cheerful and very hard working team give the Relais genuine atmosphere and make it a very pleasant place to be. They donât make them like this anymore. In fact they havenât made them like this for years â all the more reason to pay a visit.

A lovely cosy mountain style tearoom with wood clad walls. Rightly always busy, they serve a selection of sweet and savoury pancakes with a friendly smile. Absolutely spot on. We hope to see you again the next time we visit!

Really enjoyed our meal at L'Apre Ski - the kids meals arrived promptly and with plenty of chips, and the savoyard specialities were delicioius. Service was excellent , and we enjoyed air hockey and table football in the games room afterwards. Perfect all round !

Having enjoyed eating here last time we skied in Termignon, we ate here most nights. We were delighted that the owners remembered us from last year, and this set the tone for a very pleasant week. We tried pretty much everything on the menu, and couldn't fault anything at all. Sadly, we never had room for the house fondue, which looked huge! Perhaps next time, because I'm sure we'll be back next winter.

Food and drinks were great at a resonable price considering location. Service was erratic depending on who you got on that day. Also being English was an issue for one or two servers, but that is our fault for not learning a few basic words, not theirs!!

We arrived at 1900 hrs on a Wednesday evening without a reservation. Judging by the tumble weed blowing down the Main Street this didnât seem unreasonable. All the tables were laid out but there were no other diners present. After some considerable checking of the reservations book we were allowed to be seated and then we watched the same procedure being acted out twice more as people entered the restaurant. That said, the service was friendly although a little haphazard (one lady serving the whole room) and the food was delicious. Thin based pizzas and home made desserts. A pleasant meal and experience.
