Things to do in Huelgoat
La Roche Tremblante is a restaurant next to, ahem, La Roche Tremblante. The name is not very creative, as are the interior and terrace of the restaurant. Cheap furniture, lots of plastic. When it's hot and you crave for a drink, it's hard not to stop here, because it's the only restaurant in this part of Huelgoat Forest. There are lots of better restaurants in Huelgoat!

Because it was busy, the staff were rushed off their feet, but the food was lovely when it came: traditional buckwheat crepes with ham/cheese/egg, and mushrooms/lardons/creme. Yummy. One of us had an omelette with herbs, which was perfect. A lovely meal.

The Auberge du Menez-Bras is basically a working mans mid day restaurant which like other routier restaurants serves an excellent meal for 11 or 12 euros including wine. Unlike many similar restaurants this routier is open for Sunday lunch but at a small increase in cost.Assuming that you are not a worker stopping for his (or hers) mid day lunch enter by the left hand entrance door and you walk into a room with nicely laid tables and you will be eating with customers who are similar to yourself. If however you want to eat with the working man or woman, enter by the right hand entrance! Unlike many routier restaurants you do have a choice of menu. This usually takes the form of a buffet starter, where you leave the room and go into the buffet area which adjoins the workers eating area, take your plate and help yourself to the very large selection of buffet items which includes cold meats, salads and fish. At this time the desserts are arranged around the buffet and you are encouraged to choose your desert and take it back to your table with your starter. You can then return to the buffet area, take an empty glass pitcher and fill it from the choice of wines provided and return to your table. When it is evident that you have finished your starter you will be offered a choice of hot main courses usually 2 or 3 options and these will be served to you at your table. A cheese platter is often included and you can order coffee, tea or any other drinks from the bar at an extra cost of course. This eating experience is not to be rushed, the staff will often give priority to the working man who is generally limited to 90 minutes so you need to allow about 2 hours for this very good meal.If you are in Huelgoat, give it a try

This restaurant has to be one of the most reliable institutions in France. When other places have closed because it's Sunday, August, the local 'Pardon' or the Feast of the Assumption, the Hôtel du Lac is there. The food isn't fancy but there's plenty of variety and it's all done to a good standard. And the wine is all reasonably priced!Instead of having a crêpe for lunch, try a Hôtel du Lac pizza. They're really quite impressive - cooked in a proper pizza oven in the traditional Neapolitan style. Good value, too.

This is a very popular restaurant and rightly so. The chef works alone and non stop from open doors til closing, His food is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I cannot praise him enough. The service is quick and friendly and the prices reasonable.

Visited Huelgoat (lovely square) and although most places do accept dogs, we were able to park right outside and with a window seat were able to see the dogs while eating.Very welcoming and spoke good English. Great deep fried meat filled pastries to start with including a chilli chutney and fish for my wife, main course was cod for my wife and beef for me. Restaurant is big and there is also a bar across the main hall for lighter bites. Two course each, 4 white wines, badoit water and coffees; 38 euros.Would gladly re-visit if we come back this way.

We had a pleasant meal here but it was desperately quiet (only two of us for most of our meal until another two diners arrived an hour in). My burger was tasty and filling - my wife had a âsurf and turfâ style savoury crepe which was really enjoyable. The house wine was excellent. Disappointingly, for dessert the raspberry and chocolate crepe didnât come with fresh raspberries. We think this restaurant would be much better a little later in the year when there would be a more buzzy atmosphere. Bien cordialement ,

View on the lac is just splendid !!Let's be fair, we didn't read any reviews on that one before going, and we feared for a moment that the view would be great but the crepes maybe not that much.Well, galettes and crepes were good !! Kids got a candy before leaving and were happy :)A bit pricey comparing to others creperies, but I suppose that the turnover is not as high as in others cities and need to compensate that. All in one, I would recommend it, at least to enjoy the perfect view :))

We parked right outside and as soon as we entered we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. The meal (three courses) was excellent (and we are quite fussy about our meals). The chef is obviously very professional and the meals, on arrival looked like pictures. What was more important though was the taste-wow!. There was a wonderful combination of ingredients, textures, tastes and colour. We were very impressed. The atmosphere was relaxing with piano music quietly playing in the background. Its a pity we dont live nearer but if we are ever in this area we will be back. Lovely friendly owners who made us feel at home. Thank-youMerci du fond du coeur à vous!!!! C'est nous qui vous remercions de votre sympathie et de votre gentillesse.Au plaisir de vous revoir à Huelgoat à nouveau!!!!Très cordialementKeti et Sylvain.

If you're in western Brittany, don't miss the opportunity to visit Huelgoat - a pretty village around a lake, plus a valley with exciting granite rock formations and forest walks. There are loads of places to eat during the summer season but, having tried a number of them, I recommend the Creperie des Myrtilles in the main square. There's space to eat both inside and outside, and the deck in the square itself catches the summer sun at lunchtime (shaded by parasols if you wish). And NB, unlike many other restaurants, the toilet was clean, commodious and with luxury loo paper!Their traditional crepes are fantastically light, and their fillings varied and interesting. We ordered La Complete (ham, cheese, egg and smoked sausage), La Forestiere (crème fraiche, bacon, garlic and mushrooms), La Qui Pique (chorizo, tomato and onion) and La Sucrée Salée (goat's cheese and bacon, with cherry jam and salad). For pudding, we shared La Pom Pom Pom (caramelised apples, caramel, crumble and ice cream). Despite the name, it was superb - like a tarte tatin in a crepe. The accompanying cidre, in traditional Breton bowls, was the perfect accompaniment.Service was quick and friendly, and the crepes themselves, once ordered, came astonishingly quickly. An enjoyable lunch. It was a pleasure for us,i hope we'll see you during your next trip in brittany:)
