What a treat! Great place in a peaceful location. Cozy and distinguished atmosphere. Service was excellent and very knowledgeable. Excellent quality food, wines and they even have their own beer which is excellent too!!! I live about 2 hours from the restaurant, but every year we make a special trip just to be able to eat there....you don't want to miss this! True it is not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

This beautiful restaurant is a must-try in the small village of Velp, Holland. The actual watermill in its front leads to a lovely terrace and, beyond that, a welcoming restaurant inside. Since the weather in Holland does not often lend itself to outside dinners. even on this July visit recently, we opted for an inside table. We called an hour or so before and were delighted to find our table set up and ready, and yet, we were not rushed to take our spots. We were offered drinks by the cozy sitting area near the fireplace, accompanied by deliciously marinated olives and other snacks (complimentary). When we were done with a couple of rounds of drinks, we took our seats and were ready to order since we had checked out the menu while chatting and having our apéros. In our group of 9 adults, 2 opted for the 'Chef's surprise', an intriguing option that can be ordered regardless of what the others at the table order (there is a larger tasting menu, also called Chef's surprise, with more courses, and which does require all diners at the table to partake in that service, understandably.) Even upon ordering, we are not given a hint of what the chef has in mind that evening, just asked if we have any allergies or anything-but-x on our list. We didn't, so we eagerly awaited our courses. As we had some white and some red wine drinkers at the table, we selected a red in the reasonable price category of their pretty good list, and the maître d' (or owner?) discreetly suggested a white in the same price range for us as well. Nice touch.Winners in our overall selections were the vitello tonnato, the steak eaters as well, and for sure the Chef's surprise courses. The steak tartare was fresh and good, but could have used more seasoning and we were not asked when the order was taken if we wanted it more spicy or less so. The fries were very good as well. All in all, we highly recommend De Watermolen, speak to the owner (or manager) about the history of the watermill, he is very knowledgeable and pleasant. We had no problem getting English menus for those of us who needed it, and the waiter insisted on speaking English to us, even though we did have some Dutch natives among us. The entire meal was a bit on the pricey side, but hey, we were here for a special occasion and were happy to indulge.Would definitely return and highly recommend!

You can have a good time in brasserie-styled restaurant "Het Zesde Zintuig" ("The sixth Sense") in the old centre of Hanze-city Doesburg. Excellent service by Hannie and her staff, and good meals on a wooden table. We enjoyed the food very well. From the house wines we preferred the white Rueda Verdejo more than the red Rueda Temprenillo, the last being rather "flat". But we liked the Sauvignon Blanc and Carmenère house wines more than the Rueda's. But nevertheless, yes, we can recommend "Het Zesde Zintuig".

It is a small place offering delicious food with friendly service. It is worth stopping by and having something to eat! The restaurant is connected to a bakery that sells delicious breads, pastries and sweets. Good at any time of the day to grab a bite or drink a good tea... The fresh mint tea was fantastic with a tosty with ham and cheese in a brown freshly made bread. Don't miss out!

Doesburg has an old, fascinating inner city with quaint charm, beautiful gavels and cobblestone streets. Less known is that it has a 'shoreline' along the IJssel River where one can amble and enjoy sunshine and nature. Amid the atractive apartments overlooking the river there is the Stadshotel with its terrace on both sides of the boardwalk. It is fresh, new, modern and of high quality and makes for a pleasant sit with protection from the wind and the sun if needed. We had coffee and hot chocolate and a piece of famous Dutch apple pie. It would have been idyllic if the waiting on our table had not been slow and confused and the price had been a little more friendly. We did not enter the restaurant, but enjoyed the terrace for a cup of mid-morning coffee.

Voor het eerst dit restaurant bezocht. 3-gangen menu. Het duurde erg lang voor we enige aandacht van de bediening kregen. De bediening was ook onzeker. Moesten veel navragen. Voorgerecht vitello tonnato mag hier niet zo heten. Gewone mayonaise i.p.v. tonijnmayonaise.

We had diner here with family 4 persons. It is an easygoing retaurant. We only had a main course which was very good. Like Hamburgers and stakes. Personel is very friendly. Prices are affordable. Our white wine from Germany was very good.
