We last came here 4 years ago, and since then the previous owners have retired and the restaurant is under new ownership / management. The welcome was very warm and the crepes are simply delicious - really fresh ingredients. There used to be a 'four season' salad as a starter which is now missing from the menu - a shame.... but otherwise we only have praise for this restaurant and we will be returning next week.

Simply wonderful! The food, the ambience, the location, the service.... the quintessential small town France gourmet meal experience where you least expect to find it (in a tiny church). It certainly was not cheap but given the experience it was excellent value for money. Can't recommend it enough. Best darn steak in all of France. Most romantic meal of our entire trip.

Something I am always looking for, simple perfect one man service and one lady in the kitchen. Not much appealing building and parking the size of hankerchief (a lerge one few steps from here). But inside nice patio under blossominh wistaria we found a top class french local cuisine. Wes tarted with Suze as aperitif, the lunch menu started with excellent green garlic soup (a large bowl of thick and fresh soup was given on the table). The starters were very inventive, foie gras entier was melting on the palate, for the main dishes we had young duck on oranges, veal on Muscat de Beaumes de Venise with rice and excellent tongue de boeuf with sauce from capari and little sour gherkins. Vegetable were large pieces or artichocs filled with fresn goat cheese and large round slices of tomate baked with green herbs. Local cheese were the next item , and desserts came in the end, baba au rhum was delicious, and home made ice sreams /mango and coconut, vanilla and anothe fruit I cannot remember). Really difficult to eat all. Local rosé and red wines, some coffees. All together approx 35 EUR per head. But please for full menu cont more than 2 hours. 5 stars with regard to rurality, do not expect haute suisine, but in the league a top example.

Staying in Uzès, we asked our favorite restaurateurs for their best recommendation for a really special Sunday night birthday dinner with four guests. Our other guests did the same research where they were staying. The fact that many places are closed Sunday night added complexitiy to the problem. Both of us got the same answer: lâAmphitryon in Castillon du Gard, about 20 minutes outside Uzès. We were thrilled with the result. Our host, Mario Monterroso, and chef Stéphane Goudet, have been developing the menu and the restaurant since 1997. Attentive but not omnipresent, Mario appeared at the moment we had questions but let us enjoy the experience. These are delicate plates. The menu has two basic choices: starter, one or two plates and dessert.I had the Tartare de Thon Sashimi to commence, followed by the Filet de Taureau Poélé and a fantastic chocolate dessert, all with a very intense and tasty Syrah. My lady began with Gambas, then Coquilles de St.- Jacques a la Plancha and a black and white chocolate dessert with the same wine.We laughed a lot. Mario is so charming and gregarious that he added a lot to our experience on this beautiful evening.

Staying in St Maximin we wanted somewhere local. We were recommended Le Tracteur but found the staff rude and unwelcoming. We should have tried L'Estanquet first! So friendly. The owners could not have been more welcoming. The food, too, lived up to the enthusiasm of the patrons. Delicious. Between us we had sea bass, rabbit, squid Niçoise and veal; all agreeing that they were wonderful. Puddings, too, were lovely. When we return to Uzès next year we shall return to L'Estanquet

We had a nice romantic dinner in this former train station âLa petite gareâ which has been nicely redecorated. The terrace is next to the railway line which was discontinued (lovely big trees next to the railway route). The dishes are of somewhat varying quality but overall quite tasty. Service is good and friendly too. A nice spot for a romantic summertime dinner.

Collias is a lovely small French village and this small restaurant is a wonderful find. The exterior ( behind a pair of rather battered wooden doors) opens up to reveal a stylish interior; the front courtyard is also open to the sky-sort of outside in!! Lovely atmosphere. We ate here twice during our stay in the village & the waitresses were always charming & helpful with some English spoken. There is a 3 course menu for â¬29 or select from the carte. There are around 5 choices per section. Don't think that the 3 courses will be small-they are generous. On our first visit we started with foie gras & razor clams (called 'knives'!!). This was followed by a rump steak cooked perfectly (still pink inside) with mash, ratatouille, a carrot/pepper mix & a delicious jus. Classic deserts of chocolate mousse & a crème brulee with raspberries completed our dinner. Visit 2-we skipped starters (such generous mains); my husband had the lamb shank & I opted for the fish quenelle poached in a seafood bisque with some fantastic wild rice. Another choccy mousse & delicious ice cream (pistachio & lavender/honey) for me. It was all just wonderful. We have happy memories of our evenings here & will return if in the area again.Highly recommended.

The restaurant at the Hostellerie Le Castellas will awaken all your senses with a range of gourmet delights. - Inside, the vaulted rooms made of stone from Vers Pont du Gard create a unique welcoming atmosphere. - Outside, as soon as the sun is up, the ta
The Castellas was certainly worth making a detour when the previous chef, Jérôme Nutile, was in charge.Nowadays the cuisine at a high level again. We have the impression prices went down from an unreasonable height last year to good value for money. The menus are excellent. The lunches formulas attractive

This café is charming. Huge variety of salads, tartines, tartes, moules and pizzas. Service is fast and effective, waiters can have a lot of personality in an aggressive but not off-putting sense. Great wines and beers, good place to hang out with friends.merci pour votre venue au vieux café,et merci pour votre commentaire â¦â¦ mais pour info nous n'avons pas de "moules " à la carte !un large choix de bières à la pression , en bouteilles, pour les amateurs de bonnes bières â¦et concernant le serveur je vais faire ma petite enquête â¦..bon séjour en France
