The owner and one waiter are very kind people. We arrived with dog and 6 week old and were like old friends. Clean, neat, well appointed - the pizzas came quickly, the salad was copious if not plentiful, the prices, except for the desserts are correct. The wine is restaurant quality. Well lighted, good furnishings makes for an ordinary meal a festival.

We had a three course gastronomic dinner.Foie gras was plain, with gingerbread and an apple chutney. The gingerbread was bland, and somewhat mushy. The chutney was in fact an apple sauce, with some chunks in it. Main course was a chicken with morels. We received two rather small chicken legs, with 2 morels (and I mean this literally!!!) The sauce was watery, and frankly, the portion was minuscule! To be honest, we felt ripped off by the small number of morels.Dessert was ok, with a strawberry shake, chocolate mousse and a sherbet. Service was very nice, but the table was so poorly situated that the slim waitresses could not pass behind it to serve the tables. Guests ended up constantly having to pass them their plates around the table. Not acceptable! In summary, the meal was not bad, but the portions were too small and the price was a bit steep. I will not return again!

Good choice, good value, nice atmosphere, probably one of the nicest places to eat in town. We had no complaints.

restaurant brasserie au centre de Chatillon, endroit décontracté et branché, proposant une cuisine traditionnelle avec des assiettes bien garnies. Tout est simple mais acceptable.

Surprising find. Out of the way, but a lucky parking spot brought us right outside their door. Their bright décor and interesting menu made us wander in. An interesting selection with a good spread in their "menu" (prix fixe), even catering for the vegetarian amongst us (me). The cuisses de grenouille (frogs legs) are to be recommended.

We were referred to Auberge de Montessuy by our host. Persued by the pictures and a guaranteed "traditional French kitchen" we were full of expectations on our way. Looking back we were a bit dissapointed. We were met with enthousiasm on arrival. Service was close to good, however we noticed a difference between the way locals were treated and us being the only tourists. We chose the "menu degustation". The wine suggestion by the waiter was made based on the argument "you will like this wine, it is not so expensive", even though I had made no implications towards wanting to order cheap wine. The first course was good, but overdone with lot's of garlic, too much to our liking. The chicken was lacking seasoning, the sauce was technically well prepared but not tastefull or supporting the chicken in any way. No vegetables. Diffrent cheeses for dessert. Again no surprise there. Overall the presentation of the dishes did not come near the lovely pictures on the website. Service was not really attentive and in the end we felt we paid too much for an average meal. Pitty.

Pizza au feu de bois , Hamburgers maison , Big Salades
This restaurant, and the street in which it is located, is named in memory of Dr. Philibert Commerson, an 18th Century French naturalist. We have visited this restaurant 4 times - twice with friends and twice as a couple. Each time we were warmly welcomed by a waitress with an engaging smile, and after each visit we felt that we had enjoyed a "value-for-money" meal.Don't expect formality here - it is a family restaurant with a good selection of wood-fired pizzas and various salads which offer real value for money. Drinks too are not over-priced; my wife believes their "Kir Cassis" at E3.00 was the best value kir she has had in France! So if you are on a budget, like cheerful service and good food, try this restaurant - you won't be disappointed!
