Again I would have liked to have given this restaurant a good rating, but this wasn't available.I haven't been here for a while and I was interested to see how it would compare to my previous visits. As usual, I took a friend here after our shopping trip. They appear to have completed some refurbishment and the whole place looked light and airy. They seem to have enlarged it too. As usual it was busy, with a good atmosphere. The service is efficient, pleasant and the waiters speak some English. As we only wanted a fairly light lunch we chose the buffet selection as a main course. There were a good selection of dishes to choose from and with very nice french bread, they made a perfect lunch. With largers, the bill came to 23 euros, a snip. Mustn't leave it so long next time.Your welcome. Nicolas

Busy, local brasserie with a good ambience and very helpful and efficient staff. No menu. Dishes of the day on the board. Starters are a buffet selection of a variety of salads. Some knowledge of French is helpful, though one of the waitresses speaks some English. Two of us had the hock of pork with lentils after our starters, which meant that We struggled somewhat and didn't have room for dessert. As it was a Monday there wasn't a fish option, so one of our party had an enormous goat's cheese salad which also came with eggs and ham. Very tasty, but difficult for vegetarians. The cote de Rhone was very drinkable and we finished off with coffees. For the 4 of us, the bill was just over â¬60. Very reasonable.

A group of us stayed here on the 17th may on our way to Le Mans. The rooms although basic were very clean and comfortable. The owners were very welcoming. It is in a beautiful, quiet area and was so relaxing. Although the owners spoke very little English and we spoke limited French we managed by using our iPhone and they used their laptop and we muddled through which made us all laugh the owners included. The food was fresh and it was lovely to see local residents there who also helped us to translate. We ordered breakfast and when we came down there was fresh fruit, bread rolls, jam, butter, pastries and croissants. We then had an omelette with fresh tomatoes and toast along with fresh orange juice, tea and coffee. They also packed up croissants and rolls to take with us. All in all a beautiful, friendly and relaxing place to be which is good value for money. If your in the area it is definitely worth taking a detour to soak up the ambience.

11 of us booked to have lunch and we were very impressed. There was a good choice for each course and no-one was disappointed. Most of us chose a gallette for our main course and they all seemed good - freshly made and with a generous portion of well-chosen fillings; mine of ham, endive and cheese was very tasty. The restaurant is very fresh and clean and the service efficient and friendly. And all for only 10.50 euros!

I'm afraid the food or the service wasn't up to much from the incomprehensible menu to the bizarre food at expensive prices, we actually thought there wasn't a chef in the kitchen.Hi,Thank you for taking the time to post about us. Our table proposes different tastes, and some of them tend to recall the Italian Cuisine. But, as you saw, most of our main plates have a French touch. I totally understand you felt lost in the Menu if you were expecting a traditionnal Italian restaurant or a by the slice pizza place. We will try to make the Carte more readable.Thank you.

Our party of 12 ate here twice during our holiday in the region. On the lunchtime visit the restaurant was packed and included another larger group than ours, but service was as efficient and friendly as on our evening visit. We all chose different dishes from the menu de marche and no-one was disappointed. For myself I particularly enjoyed the mousseline de poisson with crabe tartare and the lamb on skewers, and the caramel sauce with the fromage blanc was delicioius. There was a pleasant ambience, and with the luxury of no background music we could all join in conversations as a group! It was lovely to find a restaurant still unapologetically totally French!! We'll certainly return if we are back in the region next summer.

Recently awarded: 1 Michelin Star Our daily 23⬠Menu "back from the Market" is served for Lunch only and is not available on week-ends. All other Menus and plates are served everyday for both Lunch & Dinner. Menu price range: 34⬠- 97⬠or "A la Carte".
My wife and I came here for lunch. As it was a special occasion, we passed by the 30 Euro lunch menu (which looked very good) and went for the 52 Euro menu. This was spectacularly good. We ordered aperitifs, and these came with amuse-bouches. Each course was beautifully presented, and full of exciting flavours. The service was excellent. Very attentive, and perfectly paced, with a short verbal description of the dishes that were being served. This was fine dining where we felt that everything had been done with a purpose, not just to be different for its own sakeOur only disappointment was that for most of the time we were the only customers. Our bill including wines and coffee was 160 Euros. More than we would want to pay every day, but I doubt we could have found as exceptional a meal in England for twice the price. We have eaten here before, and certainly intend to come again.

The restaurant is gaining a good reputation locally deservedly so. Argentan has a michelin starred establishment so clearly there is a market for good quality restaurants.Decor is modern and well executed with some nice artwork. The ambiance on my lunchtime visit was lively with family groups those with children and those with elderly members on a lunch out. My only complaint is that the acoustics are harsh so noise is an issue that gets in the way of conversation if you are a bit hard of hearing. The maitre'd was very welcoming and well organised asking about aperitifs when leaving us with the menus often not done and yet choosing your meal whilst enjoying an apero is part of the pleasure. The 3 menu options are 16.5, 23 and 32 euro the norm herabouts.I had a perfectly good race normande steak nicely presented with a very nice tomato and basilic veloute to start.Dessert was a cafe gourmand (coffee and 3 small taster deserts) with a very good apple crumble, less memorable tiramaso and a sorbet. My fellow diners had the 23 euro menu starting with smoked salmon followed by guinea fowl. Apple raviole for desserts.Presentation was good. Service was a little slow between main and dessert but it was clear we were not in a hurry.I will definately return and recommend this restaurant as well worth a visit.
