Boksoondoga, a Premium, Home-brewed Makgeolli Brand We brew liquor using our own traditional recipe that has been passed down from our grandmother. When I was little, villagers often visited our house. I remember my grandmother or mother treated the guests with liquor they made themselves. In return, the guests would give fruit or home-made food before leaving. So I thought people were very fond of our home-style rice wine and my parents enjoyed brewing the liquor. Not many makgeolli brands use nuruk, which is traditional Korean yeast. But my parents believed that nuruk was very important in brewing liquor. Another important part is the pot that keeps the rice drink inside for fermentation. We use traditional, large clay pots that have been used for 50, 60 and even 70 years. Visitors can actually tour the fermentation cellar at our brewery in Ulju. They are very curious about the jars and, often, impressed by them.
+ The modern feel brings a nice element to the traditional practices you will experience + friendly staff + accommodative - we visited with our infant and one of the staff members kindly offered to look after our baby so that we could participate comfortably in the program. This was such a wonderful gesture + learn how to make makgeolli using a basic method and you are allowed to take your mixture home to ferment and enjoy + the restaurant next door offered 4 types of korean food: bindaeddeok (green bean), pajeon (vegetable pancake), tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), odeng (fish cake on a stick) and bottomless makgeolli. + our tour guide was friendly , helpful and informative. (organised by UNIST) + the makgeolli truly is different to what I tasted before and worth boasting about. So good! + you can try some fermented rice tea as well which is just as good. + location is on the outskirts of ulsan and scenic. It is a good place to enjoy with friends and family. - there was nothing I disliked and will definitely do it again.

They light it up at night with colorful night lighting and music ???? ???? ???? You can also rent Kakao bikes There are many cafes and restaurants in the area with an overview of the park. The easiest way to get to Taehwagang National Garden is by cab. The garden houses an incredibly vast garden. Bright yellow flowers were in full bloom during my visit. Silver grass reeds magnificently rose proudly in the afternoon sun. On the other side of the garden over the wooden bridge is the Bamboo Forest, which is definitely worth a visit. And a walk along the Taehwa River is highly recommended.

A beautiful temple and a wonderful way to spend a fall afternoon or escape from the heat in the summer. Seoknamsa has a beautiful tree-lined walk up to the main temple. From there, you will see and hear a wonderful waterfall. This temple is located in a wonderful area that now has a few coffee shops and sits at the foot of Gaji Mountain. There are a few restaurants in the parking lot by the temple entrance and just down the road there are a few places to pick up some delicious apples.

Ulsan Petroglyph Museum is the one and only petroglyph museum in Korea which was opened in May, 2008 to introduce Ulsan Bangudae Petroglyphs (National Treasure No. 285) and Cheonjeon-ri Engraved Stones (National Treasure No. 147) and to lead the national studies on petroglyph. The Museum also offers various cultural events so that visitors can take a rest and enjoy cultural experiences.

Relatively modern museum (opened 2011), located adjacent to Ulsan Grand Park and easily accessible from downtown Ulsan. The permanent exhibitions located on the 2nd Floor are divided into two main Galleries; the 'History Gallery' showing the history and culture of Ulsan from prehistoric times up until the establishment of the Ulsan Industrial Metropolis and the 'Industrial History Gallery' concentrating on the development of Ulsan as an industrial centre from the sixties/seventies up until the present day. I certainly was unaware of the amount of prehistoric sites in the Ulsan Metropolitan Area and this visit to the museum prompted me to subsequently visit such sites, e.g.: the petroglyph rock art in nearby Ulju, etc. As a "foreigner" working in Ulsan, the Industrial History was of particular interest to me and I was drawn to the exhibits concerning the automotive industry (Hyundai Motor Company) and the Shipbuilding/Offshore Construction (Hyundai Heavy Industries). Don't miss the Hyundai Pony - Korea's First Original Model from 1979 (remember when wing-mirrors were actually located on the front wings!). Entrance to the permanent exhibitions is free. When I visited there was an exhibition of 'Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum' in one of the two Special Exhibition Galleries for which they charged a fee (discounted for Seniors like myself). This for me was 'icing on the cake' in a thoroughly enjoyable visit which included a pizza lunch in the attractive Bistro/Cafeteria on the 2nd Floor.
