We made our way down to Tangalle specifically to visit this small gallery. The artist is incredibly friendly and talented. He has been recognized within Sri Lanka and has won an international award. His shop was affected by the 2004 Tsunami; he lost 160 paintings. You can see several paintings hanging in the gallery that were recovered after the disaster. We bought two paintings that we felt epitomized our trip to Sri Lanka. Definitely worth a visit if you're in you're in the area.

Beautiful long stretch of beach that is perfect for walking. No vendors, actually nobody, on beach trying to harass or sell you anything. Waves can be rough but it's the Indian ocean.

Came back here for the second year as this is my favourite beach in the world. Although the waves are powerful the natural breakwaters lead to a wash that reaches 20 metres so everyone can get in. Swim further out and you have regular 3 m waves. Great fun. The beach bars, particularly Bamboo do juice, food and beer. I’ve travelled to Thailand, Malaysia, Africa and other countries and I love this beach. Perfect sand. The deserted beach at Rekawa is lovely but you cannot swim due to the rip-tides.

Our driver stopped here to show us this en route from Ella to Talalla No longer a lighthouse, each landing has pictorial representations of Sri Lanka’s naval past. Easy climb to top rewarded us with lovely ocean views of surrounding area. No one else there and free entry. Definitely worth a stop

This is one of the nicest beaches ever and the locals are really friendly. its full of georgous little bars and restaurants that are full of rustic charm. Im not sure about the other reviews saying it is full of litter but they were quite some time ago so it must have been cleaned up. The fishermen only occupy a small part of the beach. Myself and two other tourists helped a bunch of fishermen bring in the haul of fish this morning. It was great craic and great exercise!

The best beach on the Southern coast in my opinion. Minimal people. Incredible views... and amazing waves, perfect and fun for swimming. It was the best swim I had my entire trip. Nice beach restaurant to relax and watch the sunset. Definitely worth a visit.
