Seen from the top of Pen y Ghent and knowing that in about 6-8 hours you will be looking up at its vast bulk, takes some beating mixed emotions! Variety of terrain on the approach in, followed by a relatively short scramble up. Take your time and watch where you put your feet! Your respect for the mountain will be rewarded.

The Courtyard Dairy was created with the ethos to mature and champion only the best farm-made cheese available from the British Isles by Andy and Kathy Swinscoe who spent many years working for some of the best cheesemongers in France, London and the South West. Alongside the award-winning shop and maturing room, The Courtyard Dairy offers a cosy café and a small informative museum which tells the story of farmhouse cheese and its history. Listed as one of The Top 10 Cheese Shops in the World (Daily Telegraph) 'Cheesemonger of The Year’ Farm Shop & Deli Awards 2018 'Cheesemonger of The Year’ The World Cheese Awards 2013 Runner-up: BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards ‘Best Food Retailer’ Observer Food Monthly Awards 2019: ‘Best Independent Retailer’

Simply stunning. A beautiful old bridge that begs to be photographed and a short walk to the falls. It had been raining so the galls were wonderful to view.

For the last 5 years on the same weekend we camp near to Settle and on the Saturday the family (29 of us this year) walk into settle for a meal and a couple of jars. We contacted the Talbot Arms at very late notice yet they booked us all in for Lunch. We sat out in the beer garden under the large parasols and Gazebo, thankfully the very changeable weather was kind to us. Everybody loves their meals, I had the steak burger and 2 pints of Theskstons Old Peculiar. The Team at the Talbot Arms were fantastic, serving food and drinks to our tables, the Covid regs are correctly followed and they have a simple well signed one way system Can't fault this place, always spot on. We will definitely be back next year if not before.

Found this industrial heritage on a walk between Stainforth and Lancliffe. Various information boards and trails. Also some audio exhibits of interviews with past workers. Paths can be slippy if wet. There is a car park but not easy to locate - you need to go under the railway off the main road. Highly recommended, giving an insight into the industrial heritage of the area. Walking inside the kiln chambers is impressive.

A peaceful and relaxing walk south of Settle: a kingfisher shot out from under the bridge as I walked down to the stile on Station Road, which made a lovely start to the walk. The path is well-defined (and not too muddy when I went) and follows the river bank looking across to trees in their autumn colours. Further on there were lovely views of Penyghent and Ingleborough as you walk through fields of contented cows. It is quiet here even when there are more visitors further north of Settle.
