Stay in this area when you go to akumal. Do not rent a car. Get a golf cart. I recommend La Joya for a great condo and awesome location.

Located on the edge of Parque Los Fundadores and La Quinta in Playa del Carmen, this beautiful Catholic chapel is a real gem. Built in the neoclassic style, with its clean lines, white walls and round arches, it welcomes you and invites inside. Once inside, you notice purity and simplicity. There is no rich ornamentation. However, white walls, accentuating purity, dark wooden benches and matching dark wood ceiling beams dramatically improve interior's decor, giving the chapel a warm and cozy feeling. The altar is also very basic, but the large window behind it links to the beach, the ocean and the sky, connecting Heaven and Earth. If the chapel's purpose was contemplation, meditation and worship, it has been met.

Hekab Be Biblioteca is a community library that operates solely on donations. We receive no government funding and do not charge for our services. In addition to a fully functioning library system, we have an afterschool program for local children ages 3-12 that provides activities/classes in English, music, art, yoga, environmental education, sports, and more!

It is like the name says: a paradise! It's one of those beaches where we would like to stay forever, watching the endless crystal clear blue waters, the coconuts palm trees and relaxing on the "hamacas" on that beautiful white sand!

Art Gallery in La Quinta Avenida, Playa del Carmen for 11 years and over 20 years in the Mayan Riviera. Born from the need of giving tourist access to the city’s incredible art and cultural life. Started as Gastón Charó’s studio to then evolve into a place where to expose art and all it’s different ramifications: from sculptures to paintings, photographs, jewellery and much more. Gastón Charó Gallery is the perfect expression of the concept of art being a universal language that goes beyond every country’s borders to unify people in the expression of the self through art. Exposing mainly Gastón Charó’s work which depicts an exotic combination of cubism, surrealism and expressionism. The art gallery also exhibits several national and international local artist offering a wide variety of styles and techniques in order to satisfy every person’s need.
We love bringing back on our trips to Mexico art for our home. We were lucky to come across Gastón’s gallery. While he displays art from various artists, his work is truly amazing. We had our piece shipped back and it arrived perfectly so don’t worry about it, and be sure to take home a true piece of art.

The church is a beautiful respite in the middle of Puerto Morelos. It's open during the day and provides a place for prayer as well a small coffee shop to sit and relax. The art is well worth the stop.
