Budget-minded travelers will appreciate Phnom Penh's reasonably priced hotel rooms (several top-rated hotels on TripAdvisor offer rooms around $40/night). Explore the city's temples, palaces, and the remnants of its French colonial history. Just outside the city, the The Killing Fields (Choeung Ek) are a reminder of Cambodia's tragic past-- a somber contrast to the booming city of today.

DinArt Gallery features the work of contemporary Khmer artist. His signature Apsara images are widely known within Cambodia and in Europe, the USA and Australia. Paintings are available for purchase and he can also organise framing or packaging if the buyer needs to travel. He also does commission pieces if you would like a particular subject painted. Come and visit DinArt Gallery, grab a coffee and something to eat at Feel Good Coffee downstairs whilst you are here. Looking for that special travel keepsake, a gift for someone special or if you are leaving Cambodia and want a little piece of Cambodia to go with you? Then perhaps a piece of his art is just the thing for you. He has paintings ranging from 20cm x 20cm on canvas, Postcard A4 size, that you can pack in a suitcase, up to large pieces 2 metres by 2 metres or bigger than that he can put in a tube for safe delivery. Christmas is just around the corner, maybe one of his paintings is the perfect gift for you to give?! He accepts Cash, Paypal, Visa and Mastercard.
My second visit to DinArt and 4th painting! Din is a very talented self-taught artist. He is well known for his stunning depictions of the otherworldly Apsara, and also beautiful abstracts and other Cambodia-inspired works. Din is really friendly and happy to talk about his inspiration and work, & is quick to respond to enquiries and will also create custom orders. The works are really affordable and are a beautiful & original keepsake or gift from this wonderful country.

Daughters of Cambodia is a social enterprise empowering victims of trafficking to leave the sex industry through alternative employment. At the Daughters Visitor Centre, visitors can gain insight into the endemic of trafficking that is ravaging Cambodia while learning more about what Daughters is doing to stop it. Moreover, visitors can actually participate in our work by frequenting one of the three social enterprise businesses housed at the Visitor Centre — our fair-trade shop, cafe or women's spa — all of which provide former victims of trafficking with the vital income and skills to build thriving lives for themselves outside the horrors of the sex industry. To see the cafe's menu or a list of the spa's services, find the Daughters of Cambodia Visitor Centre on Facebook. If you have a large party, please call ahead of time to allow us to better accommodate you.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2x 15 year olds) stopped here for lunch today, and some shopping for home! Food was delicious- and the mango/pineapple, lime and mint smoothies , and spiced chai lassi went down a treat!! Some great purchases for home including t-shirts, Xmas tree ornaments and earrings for the girls were made. Had a chat with one of the managers- about what the service provides. Well worth a visit!!

I saw a free local exhibit highlighting the unsung heroes in Cambodia’s trash/recycling stream - the Edjais. Afterward I went upstairs and watched a few archival videos on Pol Pot which were fascinating.

Situated in leafy Tonle Bassac, the once sleepy residential lane has been developed into a wonderfully exciting drinking, dining and retail phenomenon attracting expats, local Khmer and tourists alike every day of the week. No trip to Phnom Penh is complete without at least one visit to the boutiques and one night enjoying the bars and restaurants of Bassac Lane. Seibur - aperitif room Cicada - classic cocktail bar The Library - daiquiri bar Meat & Drink - bar • grill • conservatory Trove - gifts & homewares Harry's - antique shop & martini bar Hangar 44 - custom motorbike showroom & bar Paperdoll - clothing & accessories Dollshouse - hair salon Masamune - eatery D.Wilkins - leather goods maker Enter Bassac Lane from street 308 which comes off Norodom Boulevard (Malis restaurant is on the corner). There is a paid parking site opposite Seibur where you can park your car, bicycle or motorbike, remember to get a ticket.
This area is small and is packed with bars and restaurants. The street should be pedestrianised as the mopeds fly through. A great selection of bars and restaurants

A hidden gem inside Phnom Penh! Not many tourists visit as not many people know about this. We grabbed a tuk tuk for a few hours and made our first stop at a bakery where we grabbed a croissant and coffee. We then made our second stop here and enjoyed breakfast sitting outside with an amazing view. Stunning gold detail in the stairwell on the front and on the sides. Beautiful stories painted on the ceiling and the walls inside! It reminded us of The Sistine chapel paintings. Not quite the same obviously it just reminded us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. No tourists at all.

Housed in a 1937 Art Deco building, this market is a city landmark.
close to our Mito Hotel, we bargained with some of the local stall holders and got some great pineapple with chilli sugar and coconut water.

We were having an evening walk and passed by the temple where we had the chance to meet his holiness Tep Vong. He is a Cambodian Buddhist monk, currently the Great Supreme Patriarch of Cambodia, known for his role in re-establishing the Cambodian monkhood after the Pol Pot period and for his links to dominant political leaders since the 1980s. The temple is open 24h so you can pass by anytime. Enjoy your time!

I would suggest, that on a trip to Pnom Penh, one should spend time from late afternoon / early evening to late night in this location. Nice walk and lot of activities at the promenade, where people, apart from eating, drinking and entertaining, can go for a walk, boat ride, join exercise groups, use the public gym etc., and then cool down with some chilled beverage at one of the cafes, restaurants, bars on the opposite side of the street. Theres something for everyone here !

I lived not too far from Wat Langka, and this is one of the most welcoming temples (Wats) you can go to. They welcome anyone who wants to come in and meditate (they have even regular scheduled times in the morning and evening to meditate in group if you like to join). It is a true community inside the big community of BKK1 (one of the most cosmopolitan and central neighborhoods of Phnom Penh).
