The Book Collector is an antiquarian bookstore in the cultural heart of the seaside village of Hermanus from where it sells and ships literary treasures to book lovers and collectors across the world. The store prides itself on its collection of Africana and Militaria. Works on South Africa’s political and cultural history – in both English and Afrikaans – are popular choices for locals and tourists alike. Apart from the Literary Classics, the store’s shelves are piled ceiling-high with works on History, Politics, Travel and Exploration, Archeology, Mythology, Religion, Esoterica, Self-Help, Psychology, Philosophy, Biographies, Business, Science, Wild Life, Gardening, Cooking, Music, Art, as well as Arts and Crafts, and even Pets. It also has some hard-to-find Car and Motorcycle Manuals. This quaint little book shop also has a fine selection of First Editions and Signed copies. Popular fiction can be found on the Daily Sale Table. Come and Explore!

We walked this every day in Hermanus - amazing views of the bay and mountains and if you are fortunate you will see whales in October and November! It is a beautiful pathway or trail along the ocean and used by locals and visitors alike. It will feast your eyes and spirit!

Grotto beach provided the wife, the kids and I with hours of entertainment on our Hermanus breakaway. The beach is a beautiful walking beach. It feels like it stretches all the way to Gansbaai, and is certainly long enough to awaken your appetite for ice cream and to build a need for a swim. The life guards were on duty at all advertised times and were quite attentive to the crowds on busy days. There's lots of space to accommodate everyone, with umbrellas and sun-loungers available for hire, and let's not forget the on-site ice-cream guy: he's a hero of the beach too! Watch the tides. Our children are still young, so when we forgot to check what was happening and walked into the waves as high-tide was pushing in, we soon felt the power of the ocean as it rolled us, kicking and spluttering, back on to the beach... All around: five stars.

The little hill in the village is and easy climb and great views across the village and sea. Parking space near Checkers, but has a lot of steps

The Raka brand was named after Piet Dreyer's black fishing vessel. Piet's first love has always been the sea. For some 36 years he braved the storms and challenges of the coast, ever in search of the best catch. It is with this same passion that the Dreyer family now pursue the art of wine making. With the rich blessing of earth and elements, the help of a dedicated workforce, the enthusiasm of winemaker Josef Dreyer and the advantages of a modern gravity flow cellar, Piet Dreyer produces his award-winning Raka wines.
We picked up this winery through trip advisor and we visited not to be disappointed! The tasting was done professionally and their Red Wine Collection is excellent! We would recommend them highly!

GREAT place with friendly staff! We had a burger for a affordable price that was amazing. We also enjoyed a platter including a Swedish delicacy called Raclette and two glasses of their refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, this is definitely a must have. Overall great experience and definitely one of my favourite farms in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

This is where the heart and soul of Hermanus locals gather every Saturday morning. For hugs, great coffee, unforgettable brekkies, home bakes and the best of local craft in the Overberg. Local wines, handcrafted breads, delicious eats and treats. Come hungry and enjoy the love and laughter. With over 35 local crafters, you will always find something unique and special. WE LOVE WHAT WE DO!
Really great market with everything your heart desires. Crockpot worth a visit for hand painted crockery and handmade jewelry.
