It is just one of those sites that is worth visiting, not only for itself but also for the journey there, to really understand the landscape. And to see how over the millennia this river has carved a deep valley in this landscape, the same on both sides of the river, and also how tiny it must be today compared to the days before the dams . the whole valley must once have been filled with a roaring stream of water. We were lucky to see int at the end of two intense raining weeks, with a lot more raring water than the average visitor and completely different scenery than the other pictures posted here.

We stumbled across this area by chance. We had chosen a place to stay for the night and decided to go out and explore. We found some great trails to walk and mountain bike and were fascinated by the eagles. We counted over 40 in the sky several times during our stay.

A very well reserved castle in a spectacular setting. The information was well presented and is well worth a visit. Beware, the keep closes for lunch 12.30-2.00.

Excellent place to visit. I was a little put off at first, but once you start looking around there is so much to see. And an amazing river and views from top of town. Great for walking.
