Jekyll Island Trail System

We always ride bicycles on our visits. Its an easy ride with most of the trails pretty level and on the trails you get to see a lot more than can be seen from the roads. A good portion is shaded so it isn't too hot. Early morning rides are the most enjoyable to us.

All things salt and spice can be found here. We were renting a house and cooking a fair bit, but hadn’t brought any steak spice rubs with us. The owner/manager was very helpful in showing us small packs of rubs that weren’t too big or too expensive. We picked up a packet of Savannah Style Hickory Smoked Beef Rub for a couple of rib eyes, and it was absolutely delicious!

Historic Jekyll Wharf

The Historic Wharf is located on Jekyll Island, this is the perfect location to see the boats traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway going to all parts of the world. This is the best location on Jekyll Island to watch the Tropical Sunset. This is also the home of Jekyll Island Boat Tours and the Wharf Restaurant. Come to the Wharf for lunch or dinner and take one of the many boat tours of the beautiful Georgia Coast where you will see much of our wildlife such as our Dolphins. This is the perfect location for a catered event.

We loved the short walk to the Wharf from the Club. We had lunch and dinner on the deck, and at dinner we enjoyed the live music. The service and the food were excellent. Our seafood and steak were very flavorful and were prepared just right. We topped off our dinner with Key Lime Tortes, which were delicious. We will definitely return.

Great Dunes Park

Reviewed By SimplyShykeria - Atlanta, United States

After entering into the Jekyll Island Entrance, first thing we noticed was the beautiful scenery with smiling faces to match the environment. (Great First Sign) I would recommend going here to go to the Beach. It's a pleasant and informative experience. Before reaching the Park, we noticed there were plenty of Shops and Restaurants to choose from. Shortly after we discovered, the Great Dunes Park which is within walking distance from all of the shopping areas. The Great Dunes Park is where their Convention Center is located. The Park is awesome because it has a large parking area fit for a Convention Center and the parking for the Beach Entrance is free. The Park's landscape is well-maintained, inviting and clean. There were beautiful Colorful Flowers and Green Palm Trees everywhere. Numerous shaded sitting areas for groups to sit and relax under the large Palm Trees. Spacious Pavilion areas with many benches for large groups to enjoy lunch or have an event. Clean Public Restrooms and many Water Fountain Stations to wash off from the Sandy Beach. A cool feature about this Park that I love is that they had Informative Fun Signage Posts throughout the Park to give Travelers information regarding wonderful facts about the Beach, things to discover while on the beach and what makes it unique. Also, there were Directory Signs to let you know where certain Park Amenities were located. When walking down the beautiful wooden bridge toward the beach, we noticed the very scenic great dunes blowing peacefully on top of the white sand. Then the Beautiful view of the Beach Water appears and it is gorgeous. The Beach is very peaceful. There is no parking on the beach so the sand was really soft and preserved. The water is not blue/green but the water is soothing and actually healing...lol Recently, I had suffered from Eczema but after playing in the water, it cleared my skin (Tabee Island Beach Water has the same effect, healing water). I would always suggest that every Traveler that visits the Beach to atleast try to dip their entire body in the water before they leave. A Great Sea Bath is always a Natural Healing Factor with many beneficial elements that our body needs. The way the dunes are arranged, it provides plenty of areas for social distancing and providing Visitors with private areas for their family to enjoy each other. Food & Drinks were allowed and they just simply asked that everyone do their part and clean up behind themselves inwhich they had placed plenty of trash areas for Visitors to throw items away. The Beach Currents were strong but peaceful. They weren't too aggressive that children couldn't enjoy themselves. The sand was soft and the water was warm. During the evening hours the Currents tend to get stronger/higher so I always try to go early when the sky is clear and has less wind so the water is warm and the wave currents are low. While on the beach, I noticed very minimal traffic. The Visitors that I did see, were a variety of Young and Elderly Couples. Everyone respected each other and greeted one another so the environment was peaceful which helped ensure every Visitor received an opportunity to enjoy their visit comfortably and relax. Great Trip and Awesome Experience. I always thought Georgia had only one beach but now I see why this was a hidden gem. I would suggest people visit with a thoughtful peaceful heart, ready to relax and appreciate one of Life's Natural Beauties. Great Vacation Destination for Couples. Jekyll Island works hard to ensure Every Visitor enjoys their Stay and Receive a Relaxing Trip. In return, I would suggest that Visitors do their part and keep a calm spirit, respect others, maintain the clean environment and have a Great Time ????

I visit the Horton House every time I visit Jekyll Island. Now I am sharing the history and beauty of the island to my grandsons. Across the street is another area to visit with a small cemetery and waterway.
