Rural Rootz is a unique experience, Gardens flourishing in the middle of a wooded wonderland. 7 km. of varied hiking trails to explore, Quiet solace, Two labyrinths to walk, and Dragons awaiting discovery.
I did a Forest Therapy walk in the morning, followed by tea with Tom and Dee in the guest shop, a hike on The Bruce Trail loop on their property, and a walk in their beautiful gardens, including a sound garden and labyrinth. Tom and Dee are generous and welcoming hosts, stewarding this 100-acre property for the enjoyment of their guests and future generations. Easy to spend a day here -- or longer, if you arrange to stay overnight in your own RV or their accommodations.

This is a wonderful place to sit and relax in or quietly walk through. All the plants, trees, water features, benches, etc. have been dedicated by families to people who have passed away over the years.

Great little park for kids. The playground is perfect for kids 5 and under. There is a large splash-pad as well for the summer. There is also a nice trail system with plaques detailing the history of a Penetanguishene and the settlers. Lots of benches and picnic tables to sit and have a snack. Playground tends to always be busy though (which may deter you in Covid times).

This is one of the most unique stores I have ever visited. From their delicious home made fudge to their fantastic selection of giftware with prices from $2.00 to hundreds of dollars they have it all. The staff are always beyond friendly and helpful. Every time I have family visiting I make The Old Stanton store a must do activity.

Bluewater Park was a great spot to stop and enjoy Wiarton's view of the water. And it honours Wiarton Willie with a statue.

Almost inside a city, Indian Falls are in Sarawak Township, at the northwestern edge of Owen Sound. A one-kilometre walk through Indian Falls Conservation Area leads through ferns, trees and wildflowers. The horseshoe-shaped falls drop to a quiet pool before Indian Creek flows on to empty into Owen Sound Bay.Driving Directions:Follow the scenic Georgian Bay Route from 2nd Avenue West to Grey Road 1. Look for Conservation Area sign directing you west to parking area.
Had some time to myself. Went for a road trip from Burlington (Toronto) to Owen Sound as I need to get close to the water. Enjoyed my breakfast at the mouth of the river going into the sound. Great view. Drew up out north of Owen Sound and came across sign for Indian Falls. I had just been raining so the creek was raging and was over-running at certain places, saw a trout jumping up stream. The whole area is very quaint and borderline idyllic. There is a slight climb up the bank support by simple but very useful stairs. Slippery at certain places due to the rain, but worth the climb up. The fails are quite the view because it literally looks like a huge Caterpillar has taken a huge chunk out of the landscape creating the quite rapid falls. Beautiful experience for a Sunday afternoon hick
