Falmouth Lifeboat

Falmouth Lifeboat Station is one of a number of stations around the coast designated as an 'Explore Station'. This means that the station is open to visitors for most of the year, subject always to operational requirements. A team of volunteers provide free guided tours of the station's B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat and Severn class all-weather lifeboat. There is no need to book, just go into the lifeboat shop attached to the station. Group visits can be booked in advance. Please visit the station website for more information.

This was my fave traditional pub in Falmouth. Situated on the front (as the name says!) and under the excellent harbour lights restaurant. There's a long bar with a fine range of cask ales on the many hand pulls, many from local brewers. Plenty for the cider drinker too. Beer quality was good and it's a pleasing place to quench your thirst.

The Flicka Foundation - Donkey Sanctuary

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU WRITE YOUR REVIEW. The Flicka Foundation is a sanctuary for donkeys. We are NOT an attraction, but a working sanctuary that spends seven days a week rescuing and rehabilitating donkeys from cruelty, neglect and abandonment. We welcome visitors through our gates 'free of charge' to see our work and meet our big family. We have a tea room serving delicious light snacks and home made cakes and a small rustic gift cabin with some donkey merchandise (both help with charity funds), the rest of the centre is dedicated to our rescues enjoying being free, loved and cared for, they are the priority here, their happiness and as much free will as we can give them. If you are looking for lots to do and see Flicka is not the place for you - if you love animals and want to see alot of contented donkeys and ponies living in peace and tranquility please visit they would love to meet you - we would too!! ;-)

Well worth a visit to support the wonderful work of this amazing sanctuary, it has a new parking area, a super cafe serving reasonable priced snacks, a small gift shop, friendly caring volunteer staff and of course the gorgeous donkeys who are the lucky ones to be given a loving home for life. It’s free to enter but all donations are welcome and needed to help care for the donkeys.

Know Thy Self

Reviewed By 177clarep - Helston, United Kingdom

I have been a regular customer of Know Thy Self for several years. Great for 'quirky' gifts and for regular supplies of incense, second hand books on esoteric subjects and other spiritual paraphernalia. However, today I had a tarot reading with Caroline and it was so amazingly accurate I felt I had to leave a review. I am at a crossroads in my life and this reading not only gave me the clarification I needed but was accurate about recent past events and gave me hope for my future. Highly recommend this lovely space, Caroline and her shop..!

The Seven Stars

A 17th century ale house that has stood still in time. The Building it's self dates back to 14th century as a grain store for the mill that was next door. The view from the windows was slightly different then it is today, the moor ( aptly named) is reclaimed land where the river came right up to where Asha indian restaurant is now. It is now a Grade II listed building and on the CAMRA National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. The interior is smoke stained, the bar hasn't been decorated since the 1950s. The Seven Stars was granted its licence in 1660, a year before Falmouth was given its Royal Charter and the licensee at the time was one Henry Penial and his Spouse Mary-Jane. It has seen many changes around Falmouth and has also encountered many characters, from salty old sea dogs to Royalty. Many of the characters worked on the water or for the water, on working boats or down in the shipyard. All of them had fascinating stories to tell. The pub has 7 generations of the same family dating from 1873, from more recent times the most famous Landlord Rev John Barrington Bennetts serving his time for nearly 60years behind the bar and serving his congregation at The Parish Church, before his passing back in 2011. There are quirky points to the pub, the coffin hatch being one of them, which you can find in the back saloon bar. The ladies is also a talking point.... if your a lady reading this you will understand :) An amazing collection of Key Rings can be found in the bar which started its vast collection back in 1953. We still find ourselves being handed key rings from eager customers.

Reviewed By Andythebaggie - Birmingham, United Kingdom

Just back from the front you will find this historic pub. It's a real local's boozer, the beer is poured by gravity straight from the barrel, there's a narrow stillage behind the bar. There's not much room in the bar, a couple of fun snug's round the back though. The Seven Stars is the polar opposite of modern plastic chain pubs, plenty of local colour, and some maintenance is required. Good beer quality here, an essential visit for fans of real ale and traditional pubs.

The award winning Falmouth Art Gallery is family friendly and free. The gallery has a vibrant and ambitious exhibitions programme. It usually stages thematic shows featuring selected works from the gallery’s collection hung alongside loans from artists, museum collections and private lenders. This means that the three exhibition rooms are constantly changing and there is always something new and exciting to enjoy. The gallery cares for an outstanding collection of over 2000 artworks that includes 19th and 20th century master painting, British Impressionist paintings, the RCPS Tuke Collection, contemporary prints, photography, automata and a children’s illustration archive. All works can be viewed on the gallery's website. Most of the collection is housed in the art stores so if you wish to see a work that is not on display please ask at the desk for a store visit. This can normally be arranged on the day but please call ahead if you are making a special visit.

Visited the gallery using the free ticketed system implemented during the pandemic. This can be accessed on the gallery website homepage, although they are accepting walk ins ticketing helps them keep a track on numbers. We were welcomed in by the Director of Cultural Services who told us how they were complying with social distancing measures before introducing us to the two exhibitions which were curated entirely from the Gallery's own collection. They were activity packs for the kids which included a free rainbow pencil and rubber with activities to do at the gallery or at home.

Well kept garden with Mediterranean plants all around. There are benches around to rest on and a car park just over the road.
