This castle was built in 1140 AD and is the best-preserved example of a 12th-century moat-and-bailey style structure.
Duffus castle is loved by kids, a castle ruin that they can climb over and big hills to roll down along with the moat that surrounds it, a great place to visit and take a picnic and kite to on a nice day, parking is ok, although can be busy in the summer months and only a single track road in and out !!

When James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street,Elgin, on 24th May 1895 they would be proud to see it still trading today. Stocking around 1000 different single malt whiskies, the Whisky Room attracts customers from throughout the world. Browsing through the wide selection of whiskies, many of which are very old and extremely rare, is like entering the Aladdin’s Cave of whisky. Please note that the Delicatessen section of the store is currently closed until further notice.
Amanda MacDonald gave us a very warm welcome to her department. Whisky, gin and other lovely selections of rare and unusual alcoholic purchases were available. We were introduced to the Benromach winter gin ‘Red Door’ which was delicious and remained warm in the back of our throats even after leaving the shop. Amanda explained the background and process of the gin extremely well and then informed us about the gin tour which is available at the Benromach Distillery For only £8 entrance fee. Thank you Amanda, I’m sure we will have a great time.

We are delighted to welcome you back to our Elgin Mill, and while some aspects of your shopping experience may be a little different than before, our exceptional customer service remains the same. Our employees and customers are important to us, and to ensure their safety, we have put the following provisions in place: Social Distancing – we ask that customers maintain the recommended distance from other shoppers while in store. Fitting Rooms – for the safety of our customers, our fitting rooms are currently closed. To allow customers more time to try items on at home, and return any purchases that might be unsuitable, we have extended our returns policy to 60 days. Contactless Payment – where possible, we ask that customers use contactless payment options for faster, safer checkout. Hand Sanitising – for your convenience, Hand Sanitising Stations are in place at the entrance to each of our stores.
Had a very good tour of the factory. Was a very knowledgeable guide. The work that goes into making a length of cloth amazed us. Can recommend the free tour to all.

Please note that the standard opening hours listed apply only for the open season ie from Saturday 30th March 2019 to the end of October. However we are open throughout the year by appointment. Work behind the scenes by our volunteers and staff carries on year round. Elgin Museum is owned and managed by The Moray Society, a membership organisation open to all who share its aims. The Museum’s collections are housed in a Category A listed building at the east end of Elgin High Street, Moray, in the North East of Scotland. Here you can see objects from all over the world, with a special focus on Moray, and from all periods of history and prehistory from before the dinosaurs to the present day. Please explore our website to find out more about the Museum: changing exhibitions, school visits, family events, lectures, resources for heritage and collections research, as well as how to hire our beautiful building as a venue for weddings and other special events.
Fabulous little museum right in the centre of Elgin, free to enter and lots of really interesting exhibits. How they fit so much into such a small space, I do not know! Lots of events held throughout the season, museum closes for the winter.

Ideal location for a health walk being only 4 from Elgin, with a fairly large car park and picnic area . The path which is centred around two interconnected lochs is sheltered, fairly dry but uneven in places, with some exposed tree roots, muddy sections and slight inclines, but nothing too difficult. No special footwear is required. However there are no toilets at or close to the location other than what nature provides. The distance from the carpark around both lochs and back is about 4500 steps and benches , to rest or contemplate the lochs, are situated at intervals along the path. On the whole it is more beneficial than a stroll round the park.

Pluscarden Abbey is a haven of tranquility and peacefulness rarely found in this world. The monks are very welcoming no matter your denomination or belief or even if you have none. The architecture is amazing when one thinks of the lack of Equipment available when it was originally built. The history of the place and dedication of those who revived it and are continuing to develop this great Abbey is truly amazing.

A hidden gem by the side of Elgin Cathedral, a beautiful oasis of peace and tranquillity with some amazing plants, shrubs and trees, along with some very interesting sculptures. Well worth a visit.

This was our second visit and as it was warm and sunny this showed off the beach and not surprisingly it is very popular with families. The parking is excellent and many of the beach huts were superbly decorated.
