In the heart of Calanques National Park, Cassis offers visitors a glimpse of life in a quaint Provencal fishing village. Hop on a sightseeing boat to experience the Cassis Calanques by water, or enjoy the turquoise coastline from a pebble beach. There’s much to explore by foot, too. Admire the pastel-colored houses lining the picturesque harbor, drift into the village’s charming shops and cafes, and take in the scenic views of the French Riviera from the many vantage points along the way.

We did not take a tour of the Calanques but instead decided to walk from the town of Cassis to the nearest Calanque, which is at Port-Miou. The walk was a little tiring but gave us an opportunity to see the residential area just outside of the center of Cassis and was a beautiful stroll. However, the real beauty was seeing the boats moored along the dock at Port-Miou. What a sight! The way the waterway is carved out of the surrounding rock is amazing. You can walk down to the docks and see the boats and also walk to the end of the dock and up the hillside to get a beautiful view of the entry into Port-Miou. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and seeing Port-Miou.
