Bodega Head

A rugged and recommended whale-watching promontory along the California coast.

Reviewed By robertinSJ - San Jose, United States

It’s an easy hike along the top of cliffs with beautiful views of Bodega Bay, the coastline and the tip of Point Reyes Seashore. You need to stop and enjoy the views, there are seals(?) on rocks offshore and swimming, deer grazing and lots of birds. We visited on a windy day and the wind watery strong. Not a hike to rush through, you need to linger.

Bodega Head Ride

The Bodega Head Ride is a very low traffic road with large bicycle lanes in both directions. It is a 4 mile one way ride along the bay the entire time ending at the beautiful Bodega Head State Park. There are three other parks, a restaurant and UC Davis's Bodega Marine Laboratory to visit along the way. This is a perfect ride for every weather condition also. A great and affordable way to experience Bodega Bay. There is a full service Bicycle Shop with rentals at the beginning of the ride. Have Fun!

Great ride, part on the road and then up into the headlands to Bodega Head. Suggest starting at Ginocchio’s Barbeque. Pretty flat road road with not too much traffic around the inlet and then winding up to Bodega Head. Can get pretty windy up there but if you go on a nice days the views are memorable. Single track shared use paths up on the top take you around. I don’t know maybe 12 miles round trip. Nice!

A charming bell tower tribute to a 7 year old boy's untimely death in Italy. A touching story of how his organ donation helped four other children live. Sculpture was done by San Francisco sculptor Bruce Hasson, a good friend's son.

For those of you who are fans of Hitchcock’s The Birds, the school which appears in the movie looks just the same as it did back in the 60’s. It’s a private residence now but they’ve maintained the exterior well. It gave me chills.

A landmark from an Alfred Hitchcock film.

Reviewed By kssw88 - Chicago, United States

If you’re a Hitchcock fan, you’ll love visiting this place. We went to San Francisco in the early 90’s and took a rented car straight north through Marin County and just kept going. We stopped for BBQ oysters just outside of Bodega and then found the schoolhouse. We had no navigation or GPS, just a big map from the gas station.
