Located on the east coast of Belize at the mouth of the Belize River, Belize City sits on a peninsula jutting into the Caribbean Sea. As the nation's main port, the city is a hub for cruise ships and is often a jumping-off spot for excursions to other parts of Belize, including the Cayo District's caves and Maya archaeological sites along the Macal and Belize rivers. Belize City boasts the only manual swing bridge in the world and the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America.

This shop is in the Brown Sugar Market on the right as you enter the market. This is the same market where you catch the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi. We tried to get directions to Caribbean Spice from several locals who were very friendly but gave us wrong directions. Caribbean Spice is worth a visit.

This is the oldest Anglican Church in Central America.
Very good guided tour by the volunteer docent. Well worth the donation charge to learn some of the history of this old church.

There is a great Belize sign inside the cruise terminal perfect for pictures. It is next to swings and a bar/restaurant. It is nice each city and small country in the Caribbean and beyond is doing this. You can get a collection of pics by each port you visit!

First of all it is a fun bridge to go over. Second it is very charming. Third if you not a local or a Belizean only go on this bridge you either have a driver or you are on a tour.
