The handicrafts that was started in b.c. 2000 by Hittite Civilization had continued through Iznik designs in 15th century in the Ottoman Empire period so that as the follower of the handicraft traditions, Sultans Ceramic family has introduced the handicrafts by meeting with the art-lovers through its marketing activities in national and international levels and by using its 250 years experience in the area of 4500 m² that was constructed by carving entirely with the hand workmanship in the rock in Avanos in Cappadocia region.
If you go to Cappadocia you have to visit Sultan Ceramic in the beautiful town of Avanos. I don't think I have ever been to any store anywhere for that matter with this kind of hospitality. Ramazan was our sales person and he gave us the grand tour of the place. Guide would be a better description. He explained the whole production proces and lots of historical facts bout the different prints. There is a lot of passion in this family business and it would be shame if this goes to waste due to Covid-19. Sultan Ceramic is situated in a cave and it is huge. Huge in size with lots of different display rooms and huge because of the enormous collections of Ceramic. It was overwhelming. We eventually bought a very nice piece of hand crafted art. After our business Ramazan showed us true Turkish hospitality by inviting us for lunch with his family. I can really recommend this place. It has products for everybody in every price range.

All kind of hand made ceramic, red clay and porcalain production and exibition centre.
What incredible craftsmanship! After a really informative tour explaining the different types of ceramics and the traditionally Turkish designs, we selected the most beautiful serving dishes to ship home to the US. I was blown away by the diversity of designs but each one felt so special. They were shipped so quickly too! They arrived in perfect condition meticulously wrapped. I get so many complements on my beautiful dishes!

Bazaar 54 has been established in 1987 and has thousands of visitors from all around the World to witness the authentic turkish designed hand knotted rugs while they are being woven belong to every single region of Turkey. For centuries, carpets have been created as valuable pieces of decoration for the homes of the nomadic Turks. Kilim (a flat-woven carpet), the oldest of which is thought to have emerged in Çatalhöyük in 7000 BC, located in the middle of the Anatolian region. However, hali (knotted rugs), are believed to have been introduced by Turkic tribes sometime during the 8th or 9th century, and to have made their way to Anatolia during the 12th century. Anatolian women used high-quality natural materials like wool and silk, and illustrated the daily life of the period with regional motifs that came to life through their creativity. This centuries-long experience, transferred between generations, is what adds great value to a handmade carpet.
Met a nice and expert staff Mr Reza Sahebjamei here. No pressure environment and patience to explain details.

Went to Avanos from Urgup as part of a day tour. Avanos is a beutiful little town (a big village) which is famous for pottery making for thousands of years. Turkey longest river, the red river, passes through the town. The river throws up red mud which is used for making pottery. Also ashes from nearby dormant volcanoes are also used for making pottery. I wish i had spent more time in Avanos. Besides buying some pottery, what i liked was the calmness of the place. The river gently flows through the town and there is a park besides the river and lots of chairs next to the river where one can just sit and enjoy the river. My ideal place for a turkish tea. More than pottery i liked the overall feel of the place. And yes, there are some really lovely restaurants where one can enjoy turkish food.

My husband and I were so impressed with the workmanship and the designs that we purchased a large wine decanter that they customized for us. We received it after 60 days, as advertised. We apparently got our signals crossed and they remade the item with no questions asked. We now have our new one and love it. We would highly recommend this extraordinary ceramic business. Harriet
