The political, scientific, historical, architectural and business center of Russia, Moscow displays the country's contrasts at their most extreme. The ancient and modern are juxtaposed side by side in this city of 10 million. Catch a metro from one of the ornate stations to see Red Square, the Kremlin, the nine domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, the KGB Museum and other symbols of Moscow's great and terrible past, then lighten up and shop Boulevard Ring or people watch in Pushkin Square.

If you want to spend a while day in the history of USSR, VDNH is the place to go. You will be seeing the whole nations pavilions, experience the colossal size and impressive power of the tsar era and the Soviet era at the same time. The fountain, the vast area, attractions, tours, museums are great. Huge variety of usually Russian street food, and few slow dining restaurants cater your whole day. Free shuttle bus and paid tours are available in the premises.

The fountain is now surrounded by a myriad of fairytale houses depicting Russian children books characters. Nevertheless you can admire the northern hemisphere clock, it was fun to look for my country and found how it’s name is written in cyrillic. Do go down into the shopping mall and admire it from bellow, of course all the names should now be read from right to left.
