We met the rep at the Sorrento marina and she gave us our tickets for the ferry to Ischia. When we arrived our guide was waiting for us. He was very good and took us all over the island showing us the highlights. The only complaint is that it wasn’t made clear beforehand that we were responsible for the guide’s lunch. That should be made clear in the description online. Overall, a wonderful day

This walking food tour of Naples is designed to discover and taste a great variety of delicious food and wines that are known only to locals, and that are difficult to find if you don’t know where to look. There’s an old saying in this marvellous city that goes “you can’t truly understand Naples until you taste its food and wine”. Neapolitans are very proud of their culinary heritage and consider it a key aspect of their culture. We believe that they are right! Their friendliness and warmth, and the deep history of their city, are mirrored in the flavours and variety of their recipes, of their wines, of their gastronomic traditions. These are the reasons why we designed a real dive into Neapolitan flavours, including artisanal product, ancient receipts like colatura di alici, and much more, always combined with the best wine tastings coming from Vesuvius area (the reds) and from Benevento (the whites), and ending with a selection of Neapolitan pastries.
Inclusions: Professional local guide, Food tastings, Wine tastings, Bottled water, Alcoholic Beverages

Discover the true heartbeat of Sorrento by stepping off the largely beaten tourist path for a few hours. Immensely popular, this food tour offers a truly unique and authentic insight in to delicious local fare and everyday life in Sorrento. Strolling through a residential area accompanied by a knowledgeable host, you will be introduced to time-honoured restaurants. Savouring generous samples of several dishes you will have the added bonus of learning a little about the traditions behind each one. All dishes are locally sourced and utilise seasonal produce, and while what's on the 'menu' may vary, traditional foods such as 'parmigiana di melanzane' and 'oven-baked ricotta cheese' accompanied by acclaimed local wine is typical of what to expect. Homemade desserts from family recipes and of course limoncello bring this lovely 'famiglia Italiana’ style culinary experience to a satisfactory close.

Our group of 6 friends spent 2 weeks in Sorrento in September 2019, We decided to book The Gourmet Girls on our 2nd night as we thought I would be a great introduction to the city. On booking I wondered if it was a bit pricey as I had not done one of these before and wasn't sure what to expect. It exceeded all our expectations. We were joined by an american couple and it was good to have someone else to banter with. The resuraunts we visited all went out of their way to make us feel welcome and supplied plenty of wine and food for us to try, local dishes I would never have had if I was choosing off a menu. Buffalo ragu stands out along with stuffed courgette flowers and mozzarella with lemon leaves. All beautifully presented. We were then happy to visit these restaurants on other days and were met with the same hospitality. nothing was too much trouble for the girls who chatted away happily through the night and where just as chatty when we bumped into them around town later in the week and told us another great place to eat. We had a great evening and are stll talking about it 6 months later.

We went on the morning tour which finishes with a generous lunch accompanied by home produced wine. The Azenda La Masseria has been owned and run by the same family for some 5 generations. The property and its lemon and olive groves are located on the steep western slopes of the Sorrento Peninsula. Our tour was led by one of the sons who spoke perfect English. Hugely informative - for example few of us, if any, knew that lemon trees are not actually grown from lemon seeds, but grafted on to a bitter orange tree root stock. This appears to be the norm for most citrus fruit-bearing trees. The olive oil from the Azienda is delicious. We sampled the extra virgin and were then offered the Lemon and Orange extra virgin oils. Wow !!! Superb hit of both lemon and orange in both of our two samples. The oil making process as well as that for making Limoncello were explained in detail. The tour concludes with a generous lunch accompanied by home produced wine ... and of course the Limoncello to end. Special dietary needs are catered for. Definitely recommend this informative diversion to those visiting this region of Italy.
