Shashi and her son gave an excellent class. We learnt how to make several dishes including masala chai, chutneys, pakoras, 3 types of curry and a range of breads. We did the evening class which started at 5.30 and we finished the dinner we’d prepared at about 10.30 - the time flew by! Everything was delicious - some of the best food we’ve had on our travels in India. Also, the class was good value for money for the time, quality of the food and teaching we received. Our group was 4 people (two couples) which was a perfect size - any more than that would have been difficult. It’s worth checking the size of the class when you book.

Over the past 15 years, Sushma has been providing cooking classes to foreign guests who have travelled to India from all different parts of the world. If you sign up for one of her classes, you will enhance your knowledge of cuisine, develop your own cooking skills and indulge yourself in an unforgettable, traditional Rajasthani celebration of food under the guidance of this passionate and experienced teacher! Sushma’s love for cooking began at the young age of 10 while watching her grandmother cook traditional Indian meals for her family. After dipping into many spice jars and creating her own unique Indian dishes, Sushma quickly found her place in the kitchen. Sushma admits she truly is a lover of food and for this reason when she is in the kitchen, she appears as graceful and contented as a queen in her palace. She is most alive and vibrant when sharing the wealth of knowledge she has about food with others who have an appreciation for food.
Sushma’s cooking class was brilliant! Firstly she is a lovely person! You learn how to make masala chai, 3 different curries, and breads - the perfect basis for Indian home cooking that you can take home with you. She takes you through each recipe step by step, is easy to follow and super fun! The food is delicious and authentic North Indian cuisine. Some of the best food I’ve eaten in Udaipur as well! You get a recipe card for the dishes you learn to make, and you can also buy a cookery book and spices. Make sure you arrive at the class with an empty stomach as you’ll be eating the dishes at the end! I loved this experience and can’t wait to cook the dishes for my family when I get home. Thank you Sushma!

We spent a delightful time with Anu. She his a charming and bright woman and she welcomed us like friends. The chat was interesting, warmful and the cooking mouthwatering. I loved her kitchen, so clean, tidy and well organised. I wish I could have such closets, and her spice boxes are just awsome ! We share the dishes we cooked together and eveything, from apetizers (the only dish Anu had prepared before we arrived), great pakoras, to the desert, going through a tasty chicken masala, great okra and potatoes perfectly done, to speak only of that, was a pure delight. Anu gave us the receipes. They seem simple, but I am not sure I can add the same touch of magic. I will try, though. Thank you anu. Best wishes. Isabelle and Daniel, firts guests of this new season
