Young winery that produces fine quality wines and oil. Low-impact farming, on volcanic soil. Possibility of tasting in the relax area, other seasonal activities (solarium, wine bar, Taijiquan and meditation). The cellar can be reached on foot, through the trekking route (easy) that the Cavone (Hildebrand Tomb) leads to the archaeological site "La Biagiola", where you can visit the excavation, still in progress, of an Etruscan villa, a Roman house with a small mill and Lombard necropolis. In Maremma Tuscany, in Montecucco Docg region, surrounded by hectares of woods, at 370 meters of altitude, on sunny hills ideals to cultivate the vines, stands a young farm, inventive and concrete, that combines the respect for the tradition and the nature with the evolution of the technologies. Six hectars of vineyard are cultivated producing 35.000 bottles of wine. Giovan Battista Basile purchased this land in 1999, involving his family in the endeavor as well. The property had been left in a state of abandon for 30 years. All their products are organic, controlled and certified by CCPB. The farm have zero pollution, as it produces solar energy and follows the principles of green building. Their devotion, united with the strength of this land, gives life to a great quality grape. The grapes are manually harvested in crates of 18 kg. The fermentation is done in big oak barrels and in stainless steel of superior quality AISI 316, at controlled temperature, pumping must over and making delestage following the characteristic of the vintage. The Aging period is done in French oak tonneaux and barriques for 12/24 months.
While traveling around Tuscany we stopped at the Basile winery and had some of the best wines ever! We tried their white and several of their reds. This vineyard produces top quality wines which we enjoyed on the Basile's outdoor terrace overlooking the rolling hills of Tuscany. The Basile's were wonderful hosts and we brought back wine for our friends - who all loved it! This is a "must-visit" for people wanting to experience the real Tuscany.

Not just wine! Poggio La Luna’s objective is to promote our territory of origin, enhancing the local characteristics of all our products. In addition to quality wine, we also produce delicious honey, excellent extra virgin olive oil and a sophisticated craft grappa. All work in the countryside follows environmentally friendly procedures. Visit our vineyards and wine cellars and get to know the secrets of vine farming and wine making, olive trees growing and olive oil making, beekeeping and honey producing. A full immersion experience ! Walk among the rows in the vineyard and enjoy foliage in the autumn or light green at springtime. Our winery is open to public: visit our wine cellars for aging the wine (we decided to produce a limited number of bottles to guarantee the same quality in every single bottle and a trustworthy product that will never let down). The grape harvest season when the grapes are brought in and the process of making the wine begins.
We had a fantastic wine tasting today. After a look around the property we sat down and were served a full plate of cheese, ham, bread and olives. We had a nice selection of home made ecological wines, really tasteful. We couldn’t help to take some home (and the delicious home made honey too!)
