Naute Kristall Cellar and Destillery

Reviewed By horsts638 - Cape Town Central, South Africa

If you are on your way to the Fish Rover Canyon (or back), do yourself an unforgattable favour and visit Katrin at Naute Kristall. If you have some more time, phone in advance for a light "pairing" lunch. She will offer you a wine and liquor tasting with loads of experience w.r.t. the challenges that they face in the Namibian climate. Their products are of excellent quality (Gin as well) and you should invest in a bottle or two... One of your highlights in the southern part of Namibia!

We visited Erongo Moutain Winery with friend and we had our kids with us. We heard that it was an awesome establishment and just had to try it. Upon arrival we were greeted by Boppy. Although Namibia is experiencing a record 7year drought, and the vineyards are quite dry, our expectations was exceeded. We could not believe that such a place existed in Namibia. We booked a tour which was also presented by Boppy, which she handled with great passion and very professional. We had lunch and did wine tasting while we had lunch which was very nice and relaxing. The food was truly amazing, we ordered from the starters, mains and desert and it was devine to say the least. All the dishes was very well presented and the taste was out of this world. The dish that stood out was the Half liquid chocolate cake. The wines was also very nice to taste, and the apertifs I really enjoyed. The kids was very well taken care of as well. All in all, we had an awesome time at Erongo Mountain Winery and their Jewel reastaurant. The menus and wines are very well priced. We had such a great time and time flew by while we enjoyed the delightful food and drinks. This establishment comes highly recommended! We will visit again. When traveling through Omaruru this place is a must visit.

Thonningii Wine Cellar

Reviewed By thelastmanstanding - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

We stopped here for a lunch on the recommendation of the lodge we had been staying at (Kambaku) whilst on our way up to Etosha. Call the day ahead (at least) to book as they make lunch to order rather than being generally open. The 2 sisters who hosted us (so sorry, we can't remember your names!!!) were fantastic. They showed us round the vineyard and let us taste a variety of intriguing wines as well as future wines at various stages of the fermentation process (including grape juice pressed just to day before) through to a lovely port which was so new, labels were yet to be designed! A really interesting and young vineyard with bags of potential. The lunch was just staggering. A myriad of wonderful homemade courses and flavours in vast quantities. A brief stop turned in to a long and lovely lunch and conversation (including friendly squirrels). Warmly recommended as a break in the journey, and I believe they now also have self-catering accommodation available. We hunted out their wines throughout the rest of our trip round Namibia and took some bottles of port home with us!
