With its rich cultural heritage from Native American and Spanish settlers, New Mexico has been both a Spanish colony and a Mexican colony, and still retains a strong individual identity within the United States. The landscape is breathtaking, the food incredible, and there is a thriving cultural scene, all of which makes New Mexico, and Santa Fe in particular, a great place all year long.

More and more artists are showing their work at art shows, fairs, etc. instead of galleries; and the SFSA is special in this way - with their special group of very talented artists, including many mediums: painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, etc. A great place to spend a weekend afternoon.

We loved some local specialties - don't miss Old Pecos mustards, Vivac wines. Edible flowers bouquets. Mulberries. Goat cheese in a jar.

I enjoy cooking the spicy cuisine of Mexico and the like. This market had everything that I can not get in Tennessee. I have missed since we moved from the Dallas area. Hatch Chiles, Hatch Chiles...! Best garlic, too. Chile powders that are divine...Negro, Chipotle, Mild (not so mild) make your dish have so much more dimension and flavor. Found some bundled sage (you burn it to ward off evil, right)??? - was told you can use as air freshener - ha! While I shopped live music and the smells of Hatch Chile and Santa Fe cuisine filled the air. This market is very busy and parking, although plentiful, is not plentiful enough so come early. There is a parking garage that is a little further off where you will for sure find a space it is just a further walk (but not bad). You can also find some wares like woven baskets and some artisans selling there art/jewelry. Lots of people choose to have breakfast here, like a blue corn donut. No dogs are allowed in the market - FYI - even though Santa Fe is very dog friendly.

We are a world-class Market in the heart of Main Street Downtown Las Cruces. We have over 300 members who are skilled artisans, farmers, bakers, food trucks and talented local musicians. All of the goods are handmade, and grown right here in New Mexico.
I’ve attended this fine market before, only disagreeing with the allowance of non-service dogs into it. Other than that, this is an excellent worthwhile Saturday morning event, and I was very pleased to attend. Me, and a lot of others, including two Barcelonian women enjoyed walking around, looking, learning, maybe buying items or food. At one stand, I acknowledged the great value of their task: registering voters. We all concurred that voting is only possible if the voter is registered, which has to be done at least 30 days prior to the official ballot-casting date. I missed it before somehow, but definitely not this time: posing with my eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike beside a vibrant Las Cruces mural. In fact, there was a bit if a line as most everybody wanted this free “postcard perfect” image to post, proof of being in this fantastic city! I’m looking forward to returning; it certainly gets my “Wheel of Approval!”
