Things to do in Kalibo
we have been to this fine dining resto several times the past two months, the waiter now recognizes us. it is one of the new dining places in Kalibo which is ideal for family and even business meet ups. It is clean, with free wifi, good food and reasonable price range. You can choose to dine inside the airconditioned area or the kubo (bamboo houses) at the back. their crispy pata is good, and so with the garden salads (although quite pricey for me). the chow fan is a favorite. one serving can feed at least three diners. one time we had Tom Yum Goong. I was disappointed though. Small shrimps, with carrots (something i dont see in other Tom Yum servings), no lime leaves, thin slices of squid. Wont order Tom Yum the next time. Another favorite is the korean beef stew. Tastes like Beef pares, with its ever tender beef. The lobby is decorated with Christmas trimmings and a giant Christmas tree adorns the center. Ideal for photo ops. The rest room just needs constant clean up and replenishment of tissue paper. The times we were there, the rest room in the main hall looked like it has not been attended to. Used tissue overflowing... the rest room at the back portion is clean though. all in all, it is a good place to bring your visitors. Good food and very comfortable dining areas.
The place is clean and the attendants are polite. You may choose from pre-cooked dishes or you may order fresh fish and other seafood for cooking. It is right across the bus (Ceres) terminal in Kalibo. Parking space is also available.
Gecko's is a relatively new offering in Kalibo, as you head toward McDo make a left at the Petron station and Gecko's is tucked away about a block back Mabini on the left. Our host was the American owner and the chef was her talented nephew who trained in Manila. The offerings are mostly Filipino cuisine, we enjoyed the beef nachos, as an appetizer. They were very good, prepared in the local way. We shared a pork sisig and baby back ribs. The ribs were spectacular, meaty and full of flavor. And quite a good price at 150 pesos! The sisig was our first attempt at this local favorite and we found it to be very good, crispy, flavorful pork. One of the best features was the Dr. Pepper! This American soda is hard to find outside of Manila, but the owner has it shipped in... and on this particular visit she even had Dr. Pepper Cherry on hand! We hear the evening scene is when Gecko's really comes to live, but we found it to be a comfortable, delicious place to shop for a local lunch and great conversation!

Andok's chicken serves some tasty grilled and fried chicken. This outlet is located by the road side and sanitation side, it is not up to mark. This is more of an outlet for the locals. You can try it out at least once if you want to taste what the locals like to eat.
Filipino comfort food (binagoongan baboy, tuna and pork sisig, chicken binakol, etc) plus more, at very affordable prices (less than P100 for a good meal)Plus airconditioned (a must in humidity-extreme Kalibo) and free wi-fii access! Excellent for quick meals and short meetings with friends and family.

Ninos Ihaw-ihaw lived up to its reviews. The kinilaw is excellent, the grilled macakerel (tanigue) is done perfectly, soft and moist inside. The steamed shrimps are just sweet with a hint of the sea, calamares crisp on the outside soft in the inside seasoned just right. Oh the rice is equally excellent, sticky variety. The prices are very reasonable, actually cheap. Oh almost forgot, the bam-i noodle is not to be missed.

Food was just okay for those who just want to hang out outside and no other place to go to . Problem was that the sauce used in the pizza is the same in their nachos and tacos . And their blend of their in sauce was too sweet , it's like food was for kids .

With branches strategically located in different areas of Aklan, you can taste the best liempo (this is a must-taste when in Kalibo) from Ramboyâs. It has brand right in front of Marzon Hotel, in toting Reyes Street (near RC Supermarket), or if you want to visit Ramboyâs Main, it is located in Brgy Bulwang, Numancia Aklan which is just a few minutes drive from Kalibo proper
