Pipa's was my favourite restaurant in 3 weeks in South America. It seemed to be predominantly locals and the price matched that - very cheap but the pizzas were very good (thick crust but quite light and not very doughy). They also have an amazing ice cream counter as well. Whether you're on a budget or not, I'd still recommend it.

very charming place with reasonable prices and great atention. We tried the Rabas and the pizza and were amazing!

We ordered the biggest breakfast and it was just ridiculous! One slice of cheese and toast per person, while the locals had a way bigger breakfast! Itâs a tourist trap donât go there!!

Ideal para festejar cumpleaños o hacer algún after office.

We heard from multiple people that this patio had the best empanadas in Argentina. They were good, but we certainly had better empanadas while in both Chile and Argentina. The patio had a nice outdoor atmosphere and the prices were great ($2.50 pesos for one empanada!) but the patio has multiple empanada vendors and you walk into the place and you get harassed by the waiters at each different one to come sit down at their stand. There are like 5 or so vendors in the patio and we ended up bouncing around to several so we could taste different empanadas from each one. We ended up eating lunch there for $8 for the two of us... Pretty good deal but definitely not the "best" in Argentina!

In the cultural heart of the city, have lunch and dinner surrounded by hills and history
Obviously I canât say for sure. I was well before eating here, I ordered a sandwich that I couldnât finish because the eggs inside were green/gray around the yokes, and the next day I was sick with a bacterial infection dreaded by travelers. Even if I hadnât likely gotten sick here, Iâd give the place one star. My boyfriend and I arrived in Salta late at night and needed to find a late dinner. New Time was open. Like I said, the eggs in my otherwise bland sandwich were greenish gray, a hallmark of eggs gone bad. My boyfriendâs pizza was undercooked. Our waiters were almost remarkably inattentive. It was astonishing, they were all (maybe three people in total) standing at the bar, seemingly playing a game of âhow long can we avoid eye contact with the only two diners here.âNOT to be confused with Cafe del Tiempo, a fantastic cafe also in Salta.

This isn't a single restaurant, it's a large terrace, or patio, surrounded by kiosks, each selling their own versions of empanadas, tamales, and humitas. Your main task is really just to decide whose section you're going to sit in, as, as soon as you start to approach, you'll be flooded with calls from the waitresses of the various vendors to come to theirs. You can take the time to walk around and check out the different menus, but they're all pretty similar, just relax, pick one, have a seat, and enjoy a light meal or snack!
