It is Chile's northernmost city, being located only 18 km (11 mi) south of the border with Peru. The city is the capital of both the Arica Province and the Arica and Parinacota Region. Arica has a mild, temperate climate with some of the lowest annual rainfall rates anywhere in the world, consequently there are rarely any clouds over Arica. Arica is located at the bend of South America's western coast known as the Arica Bend or Arica Elbow. At the location of the city are two lush valleys that dissect the Atacama Desert converge: Azapa and Lluta. These valleys provide fruit for export.

The place looks like there were no investment at all, and they just painted the walls of an old storage room. Food is not bad, but not good either. Burguers are weird textured and the bread always looks greasy. Anyway, is a good place for the munchies, specially on weekends, when is open late.

It's a little lovely vegan restaurant in Arica. It's not in the centre but you have to try it! It's a mix of different gastronomic tradition to give you an experience of delicious dishes for a super economic lunch! if you are looking for healing and caring for the animals stay away from this place, only sells chicken and chips , nothing more , abstain vegetarians.

This is an open air restaurant better suited for take out than dining there. We had the vegetarian pizza which was ready in 15 minutes. It looked undercooked, but tasted OK. Nothing special, but certainly a good choice for a casual quick meal to take out.

After walking round and not finding anywhere where anybody seemed interested in serving us we ended up here. First impressions weren't great but we ordered and were pleasantly surprised. I had pizza, which was Ok, not exactly Italian like but edible. Colleagues had some meat dish with fries which they said was OK as well. The fries were very good though. beer from bottles was decent and cost was OK. Only complaint is that I get really annoyed when places put the suggested tip on the bill then put the total with tip at the bottom. Tip is optional and I will give it if and when it is deserved.

Saltenas are actually native to Bolivia, but you cannot find better ones than at this "hole in the wall". I attempt to never miss an opportunity to enjoy some every time I am in Arica, Chile. If you are looking for an impressively clean restaurant, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to go where the locals go to get a Saltena or empanada you will be satisfied. What flavor!
