Working Sheepdogs

Reviewed By ElisabettaG43 - Milan, Italy

Everything we read on their website is TRUE, and happened: we attended an amazing demonstration of the shepherd leading the sheep with the help of his dogs, and could participate in shearing a sheep (under Neil’s watchful eye and instructions). He gave plenty of information on his job, and answered any questions the group asked. Then we met the collie pups and the orphan lambs (thanks to Neil’s son for this!), and could buy wee books for the kids: “A visit to Working Sheepdogs”, written and illustrated by Glynis Ross… lovely! Too bad we couldn’t understand almost anything… due to our being foreigners, and to Neil’s strong accent… it was an enjoyable and PRICELESS EXPERIENCE anyway :-D An ADVICE: RE-CHECK THE DEMONSTRATION TIME of your visit! We got there before 4pm, and were told that the on that day, the demonstration was at 5pm… :-o

We had an utterly fantastic experience riding these wonderful horses on Ayr beach, helped by a beautifully sunny day. John and his team were brilliant - ensuring we were safe, but enabling us to have a thrilling 2-hour ride. I would definitely recommend.

Heard about Bobcat Alpacas from the the great support Bob, Cath & their family of lovely Alpacas give to Marie Curie cancer care Edinburgh. Our visit to the farm was on a cold but sunny Friday afternoon in January. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Bob & introduced to the Male Alpacas who we would be walking with, Bob introduced our Alpaca friends for the day by name telling us all about their personality & how each furry friend is very different! We partnered for our afternoon stroll with Milo who like all the alpacas is awesome & Bob shares his vast alpaca knowledge in a warm & funny way as we wander in the Pentland hills .I would highly recommend a visit to the farm, it offers a great non commercial afternoon out with lovely Alpacas that benefit from exceptional care & husbandry from Bob & Cath.

We loved our visit to the farm and to see and feed the animals. All of the animals had plenty of room and seemed very happy! You could tell even after our short time there that some of the animals are right characters! Would highly recommend a visit here. The shop had a great selection of items to buy from fresh fruit and veg to homemade cakes!

We made a flying visit to Alpaca Days Out and loved it. It was a warm welcome from Carole and we had a leisurely stroll around the field surrounded by the Alpacas. We learnt so much in a very short time and we were amazed that Carole had names for all the Alpacas. It really is worth a visit to see and learn about these lovely animals

Finally made it out to Callanish Alpacas with the family. A really great experience. A warm welcome and tour of the mini-farm, the kids loved feeding and petting the animals. We then had a delicious lunch at the Mollans shed with an equally warm welcome from Rachel and Julie. Highly recommended and a great way to spend a few hours with the kids.

Learn many interesting alpaca facts before choosing your favourite to enjoy a leisurely stroll in the countryside. Our Craft Barn lets you get 'hands on' with our super soft fleece and the traditional methods of processing.

Had a wonderful time with the kids walking the alpacas and meeting all the other animals. We learned a lot about all of the animals and really enjoyed ourselves. We got to choose an alpaca to walk and the kids got an activity pack at the end. There is also a little shop where the kids bought some bits at a reasonable price. It was muddy, so wellies suggested. Highly recommend a trip here and will come back the next time we are up un Scotland!

Langloch Farm @ CCI

Social Enterprise operated Nature Trail, Nature Play, Gift Shop and Tearoom on the outskirts of Lanark. Suitable for all ages.

Reviewed By LauraB15Glasgow_UK - Lanark, United Kingdom

Recently visited this lovely new place with my 1.5 year old daughter and we had a great time. My daughter particularly loved the wee play park. It’s refreshingly different to standard play parks with the most beautiful rustic nature hut full of wonderful toys and things to entertain all ages (especially good when raining which is was!) and little tunnels etc to explore. The nature trail was a bit too wet / flooded the day we visited so I look forward to going back when the weather Is better. We easily passed a couple of hours between the park and lovely little cafe / gift shop. I had a nice coffee & scone and there was a great high chair for my daughters snack time plus very friendly staff there. I bought the handmade soap and love it (I have sensitive skin as well). Highly recommend for a family morning or afternoon out ????
