We went on the morning tour which finishes with a generous lunch accompanied by home produced wine. The Azenda La Masseria has been owned and run by the same family for some 5 generations. The property and its lemon and olive groves are located on the steep western slopes of the Sorrento Peninsula. Our tour was led by one of the sons who spoke perfect English. Hugely informative - for example few of us, if any, knew that lemon trees are not actually grown from lemon seeds, but grafted on to a bitter orange tree root stock. This appears to be the norm for most citrus fruit-bearing trees. The olive oil from the Azienda is delicious. We sampled the extra virgin and were then offered the Lemon and Orange extra virgin oils. Wow !!! Superb hit of both lemon and orange in both of our two samples. The oil making process as well as that for making Limoncello were explained in detail. The tour concludes with a generous lunch accompanied by home produced wine ... and of course the Limoncello to end. Special dietary needs are catered for. Definitely recommend this informative diversion to those visiting this region of Italy.

How can you visit the heart of the Sorrentine Peninsula and not take a food tour? We couldn’t. In the span of 4 hours, we visited lemon and olive groves (enjoyed morning limoncello!), watched fresh cheese made in front of our eyes (OMG, fresh ricotta with apricot/plum preserves - new favorite), and make our own pizza (complete with hostess/guide Claudia taking slo-mo videos of our bumbling efforts). Speaking of Claudia, she informed and entertained with fun unmatched by any other excursion we had on our three-week Italian trip. Thank you Claudia for....well....just being YOU! And bravo/well done to the ‘sexy, single Cheese Man with hot hands’!!

Agriturismo Primaluce - Fattoria Didattica e Tour

Primaluce is a pure, magic place, a love story with Nature, with emotions and products she offers us. Primaluce surprises its guests with an unmatched view: set between sea and mountains, the property expands on terraces, among the green Sorrento hills, up to the infinite blue shades of the Naples Gulf. You can reach the farmhouse leaving the state road SS145, to take a rather steep hill road. The road to Paradise, you know, cannot be just a walk! The property has two b&b rooms and a large dining room. We offer our guests a true agrarian life experience and a convivial stay with our Family. Outside the property, there is a large equipped dining area, a playground for children, a relaxation area and some picnic green areas. At Primaluce land, you can also visit farm animals, who live free and safe in their own terraces.

We spent the afternoon walking through the picturesque hillside farm, learning how to make Pizza from scratch, drinking red wine and chatting with Alessandra and her two daughters! I can't recommend it enough for someone who wants a genuine Italian culinary and cultural experience. 10/10 would do again!

I Giardini di Cataldo

Reviewed By 13markc13 - Weymouth, United Kingdom

I'm not sure if we got more of a visit than we should have here! They do an official guided tour or you can just wander around. We wandered. We turned back to the start when a group tour arrived. Having taken some photos we came back the way we had gone to find a gate with a notice telling one to keep out on the other side of it. We may have wandered into the area meant only for the group tours. I therefore can't say if there are only a few lemon trees to see - or quite a few. It's pretty whatever. What I can say is that there is a cafe on site, there's the whole brewing and bottling factory on display, and obviously plenty of limoncello to sample and buy. We spotted that there was a communal lemon garden a little further up the road and went in for a wander there too. We aren't sure if the two sites were related but i Giardini Di Cataldo did have a sales point at the communual gardens too. (Both are free to wander around.) It was an enjoyable trip.
