Top 10 Farms in Bali, Indonesia

January 4, 2022 Claudia Navarrete

Bali is a living postcard, an Indonesian paradise that feels like a fantasy. Soak up the sun on a stretch of fine white sand, or commune with the tropical creatures as you dive along coral ridges or the colorful wreck of a WWII war ship. On shore, the lush jungle shelters stone temples and mischievous monkeys. The “artistic capital” of Ubud is the perfect place to see a cultural dance performance, take a batik or silver-smithing workshop, or invigorate your mind and body in a yoga class.

Celuk Swing & Luwak Coffee

Reviewed By barbarafavafmx - Antwerp, Belgium

Located about one hour away from Kuta Beach, is easily reachable via moped or car (we took a taxi to get there) and you will be easily going to spend about one or two hours in there. The staff is super welcoming and one of them will take care of explaining you about the coffee plantation, the procedures to hand made roast it and brew it and also about the various kind of coffees and tees, with a gourmet selection of them for you to try from. My favorite in absolute was the coconut coffee. If you come here to taste the famous Kopi Luwak (Kopi means coffee and Luwak is the Indonesian name for the civet, the animal that is part of the fermentation procedure of this kind of coffee) , here is available for the cheap price of 50k (3 dollars) while in the rest of the world, is from 50 USD up per cup. Yes. 50 dollars for a cup of this coffee which taste is strong, and in case you were wondering about, no, it does not taste like poop. There were only two Luwaks on spot but they were sleeping because of being nocturnal animals (it was early afternoon when we arrived), and the guide explained us that the rest of them are kept in another spot, away from the crowds to not to distress the animals. Right in front of the coffee tables, there are the swings. You can choose from the single swing (one person on board) or the couple swing (which is not going to swing so high like the single one). Both are worth it, and in case you decide to buy both experiences they are going to make you a discount on the price. I went for the solo one, and as you were already able to see from my home page, it was totally worth it. The experience is going to last about 8/10 minutes and the feeling is amazing. Another instagram tip are the jungle platform, where you can also take photos and the nests, another typical instagram hit from Bali and in general from Indonesia. Once you are finished with taking all your photos, your guide will escort you to the shop where you will be able to buy big or small packs of the whole selection it was offered to you during the experience. Great chance to have a taste of Bali and great photos for your feed

Jatiluwih Green Land

Nominated for designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Jatiluwih offers a beautiful view of contoured rice terraces irrigated using an impressive communal water system developed by Balinese farmers. The scenic drive through the quaint villages and verdant slopes of the central coastal regency of Tabanan adds to the experience.

The Jatiluwih rice terraces in the namesake upland village in West Bali are most famous for their dramatic and exotic landscapes. The cool highlands and the breathtaking scenery of this village at the foot of Mount Batukaru makes for wonderful photo opportunities, and serves as a soothing retreat away from the island’s crowded south. Once a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site candidate, the Jatiluwih rice terraces comprise over 600 hectares of rice fields that follow the flowing topography of the Batukaru mountain range. These are maintained by a traditional water management cooperative known as ‘subak’, which dates back to the 9th century. The cooperative itself eventually won recognition as a dominant factor in Bali’s ‘cultural landscape’ entry on the heritage list.

We stopped by here on our drivers recommendation to try the famous Luwak Coffee. We saw a couple other plantations during the week and this one was our favourite. Great selection of coffees and also fresh fruit available from a separate seller on site. Nice setting and the guy who took us through the small plantation was very friendly and informative explaining the process and coffee and tea fusions.

We kept admiring the view from the hotel we stayed at and managed to find a way down some cobbled steps to follow this trail, its so peaceful and picturesque and you can actually walk into the centre from here, lots of opportunities to take some beautiful photos and meet the locals, always a plus when you can stop and listen to their stories. A lovely stream to follow although the paths can be very narrow at times lots of ducks and other species around, just a lovely leisurely stroll with the camera and if you forget your water there is always Nayoman the coconut man and his wife to stop and have a drink and a chat wonderful man......Wonderful couple..... thoroughly enjoyed our stroll
