We had two dinners here at the "Yellow Sunflower" restaurant. The atmosphere is really cosy, with benches and tables, and all tables seperated by stained glass art panels. They have menus in Czech and English. For our first dinner I had a carbonara pasta (which was just fine and a decent size portion) and my husband ordered the "hunk of meat" - which turned out to be a fillet mignon. He said the steak was perfectly cooked. He also tried the garlic mashed potatoes (which were tasty) and his meal came with a "salad". The "salad" was a bit of a surprise - it was sort of like half cole slaw and half green lettuce in a mayonaise sauce. Neither of us liked it. The meal was pricier than anyother place we had been in Zlin. Our second meal was on a Sunday night, and besides fast food, this was the only restauarant we could find open. They were have a week long "duck fest" - which meant for Sunday thru Saturday that week they were only offering duck dishes. The menu was very limited - about 6 dishes and the menu was only in Czech. We asked the waitress to suggest something and she brought us the "classic duck" - which was a duck leg and thigh with sauerkraut, stewed red cabbage and "potato bread". We discovered that in many Czech restaurants potato bread are actually this sort of slighly undercooked, very heavy sort of bread apparently made of potatoes. They have no flavor on their own. We ended up ordering an extra side of mashed potatoes to round out the meal. Looking around we say other guests with duck meals we thought looked more appealing to us - but what we had was very good.

Travelling in Zlin region, we found our brief visit to La Villa restaurant an exciting experience. Innovative cuisine combined with tasteful reconstruction of this architectural gem is unique to any local or foreign visitor. Great for its ambiance for a business lunch or late evening visit for tasting menu. Would recommend any time!

Short review:I really liked the food here, the flavour was amazing and the staff was super attentive and helpful. On our arrival, my wife (Czech) requested an English menu for me as my Czech needs some work... and the waiter smiled, turned around and gave us the menu, switched to English and asked me my country of origin, took our order and came back 5 minutes later with everything we ordered. The problem was the smoke... They seriously have some ventilation issues as you can smell the cigarette from the moment the door opens and it does not go away. It doesn't help having 20 people around, smoking like chimneys regardless of other people around.Extended version:I am quite sensitive to strong smells (I suffer from migraines) so, on our arrival, my wife noticed immediately the strong smokie atmosphere and asked our friend if she was happy for us to look for a different place. I thought I was going to be fine, so I told her that we could stay, our friend did not mind and we all agreed to eat and go somewhere else for dessert. We ordered a soup (Hraškovy krem, or pine cream), a salad (cheese and herbs), smažak (which is fried cheese) and a beef burger. Everything was delicious and super tasty... the portions were reasonable given that all the stuff we ordered was shared among three people. At that point, my migraine started to kick in (probably 7 minutes after we arrived) giving me visual artefacts and other sensations... I gently asked the waiter if there was another place she could relocate us so we could sense a lot less the smoke; she apologised telling us "there is no use, the smoke goes everywhere. If you want I can cancel the order now if this is going to be a problem..."I didn't want to impose and my wife was already engaged in a good conversation with her friend, shook my head and tried to engage in the conversation.I guess the waiter looked something strange in my face because she jumped straight to the kitchen and got our order before the table next to us saying "Got it as fast as I could, I do hope you enjoy your food even though there is a lot of smoke."The food was great, I wished they had more vegetarian options but what they had was good... but there is so much I can enjoy before I start to get dizzy and nauseated... My wife and her friend hurried up and got out of the restaurant in 35 minutes or so.Unfortunately, migraine had already taken place at the time we got out and it was going to be killing me for the next 40 hours. So, what does that mean for you, traveller? If you have smoke sensitivity (like me) staying here might not be a great idea. The air quality is extremely poor as many others will be smoking two to three cigarettes while you are there, multiply that a few times and boom! Ironically, this is quite common in the Czech Republic, most establishments don't want to prohibit this activity because a sector of the population chooses to smoke.I think the restaurant would do great if they decide to ban cigarettes or define a proper non-smokers area (which they do not have), the staff was super attentive. Unfortunately, I am not going to go back because the smell was very intense. On the other hand, if you are a smoker or don't care about second hand smoke... top up your lungs and enjoy your meal!

We had dinner there on Friday night, luckily we had a reservation as the place was full. Food was excellent - delicious soups and meats. If you go there expecting salads you will be disappointed. It is a place that meat lovers will appreciate. Highly recommended.

Found by fortune, visited occassionaly, becuause, this is a restaurant which offers something special and something more. The degustation evenings are just too good. You cannot visit it daily, because you will not eat anything else. This place is brilliant! This place is experience.

We visited in mid September and the indoor/outdoor option was in full swing. The wait staff was multi-lingual and courteous. The menu was massive and beer and wine options were extensive. The sauerkraut soup was in top form, a luscious balance of creamy tartness. The championship schnitzel offered a variety of meats schnitzel-ed . We had a wonderful time at this restaurant and would recommend it for any group.

Radun hotel and restaurant refer to the noble 20´s and 30´s period. The building has been sensitively reconstructed and the atmosphere and flair of this place is unique. Great service, very good food and a broad choice of wine sorts...
