It may have been just the evening, the atmosphere or the company but, honestly, the schnitzel I ordered was just about the best I have ever tasted. Topped with bacon and a fried egg, with to-die-for potatoes on the side, it was fabulous. If you are ever in this beautiful town on the Mosel, try this place.

A few hundred meters from the Mosel, it well worth turning away from the river at Merl and follow the Merlerbach up its narrow valley to the Burgerstube. There is parking in front of the restaurant. Here you will find German cooking at its best. The extensive menu has something for everybody â steaks, schnitzels, fish, mushrooms, salads and snacks. The food is cooked to perfection and very attractively presented. Portions are generous and prices, fair. Excellent quality local wines are not only available by the bottle but by the glass.English is spoken fluently.

Delicious traditional German cuisine in a cozy atmosphere describes this place. We tried both the "Rusticales" dishes on the menu, one of which was venison, the other pork in brown sauce. Fabulous.

My husband and I happened on this gem during a bike trip down the Mosel. Jutta and Christoph Koch, the proprietors of the guest house and restaurant, were gracious hosts. Though we didn't stay at the guest house, we had a scrumptious dinner of local produce and meats in the garden restaurant. After our meal, Jutta and Christoph sat with us to talk in a mixture of English and German about a wide variety of topics. It's clear that they love the work they do. For a relaxed dining experience, complete with wines from Christoph's winery, don't miss Gutsweinschaenke Till E. It's a perfect place to unwind after a day of travel.
Strangely enough this restaurant was not listed until now although it is one of the better eateries in Zell. Small but with friendly service, very good quality food and some interesting wine rarities. Should really be 4.5. You can use a credit card to pay for the meals but for your hotel stay they only take debit cards......

Nothing about this place was bad but the gyros were partly burnt, the rice was flat, the French fries were from the deepfreezer and they take only cash.On the positive side: friendly service and nice suvlaki but that is not enough to make us go back.

The café restaurant is a converted station overlooking the Moselle, coming from the East along the river footpath more or less the first place you tumble across. We ate outside but the interior seemed very charming. It is owned by one of the local winegrowers and serves an interesting list of their products, red and white, still and sparkling, as well as beer. Food is traditional German, substantial and very tasty. The service remained friendly and efficient despite dealing with a capacity crowd, some tourists like us but many people from the neighbourhood which I guess speaks for the relative quality of the food and wine on offer.

We eat here often, the food is very good and the restaurant is family run by a young couple that are doing a great job building quality, service and ambiance in to your dining experience. Everything is good and they often have special items that are worth checking out. Their wine list is typical Mosel Riesling, but they have some good selections.

We arrived past 8 o'clock in the evening and we're tired and hungry. Frau Wagner recommended us the restaurant and it was quite a nice surprise. Nice view over the Mosel, romantic ambiance. Delicious German food and nice wine (sweet red wine and very sweet dessert wine). Not very detailed menu, but that was not necessary. Lovely waitress who also tried to speak English and was patient when we tried speaking German. It was not cheap but also not that expensive (70â¬, 1 course, wine and water)
