This restaurant is located directly opposite the Chateau de Vitré, which made it a nice place to lunch for my friend and I, as first-time visitors to Vitré.We went for an inexpensive, 2-course, formule (â¬12 each); tabbouleh to start and then a faux filet with chips for a main course. The whole bill came to â¬30 with drinks, which we thought was great value, considering the location. The staff were great; friendly and helpful. The tabbouleh was nice, though nothing spectacular. The steak was tasty, but took a lot of chewing. I still felt the meal was good value, but wouldn't recommend the restaurant unless you're more interested in the location than the food.

This restaurant serves well prepared and very tastefull food like espalier, pigeon, ravioli with truffel, foie gras and a wide choice of cheese. There are about 6 starters And the same number of main courses and desserts. If you are not that much into desserts then go for the starters, main courses and the some cheese. The winelist has something for everyone's taste and money.

A history of passion for the Breton gastronomy, confidence and division. Not far from the historic center, this former stone forge became the meeting of the local gastronomes. They are understood: the leader attempts to work the good products of the count
We wandered in off the street, in town overnight on the final leg of our bike ride through France. We were welcomed like old friends. We always try to speak French, on this occasion we needn't have worried, but we enjoyed the experience. We met both the owners? One the Maitre D and the other the Chef, they were simply great. The wine selection we made initially was changed when we began to discuss our love of French wines, the Bordeaux we were given, was simply awesome. The ambience in the restaurant was excellent, we were of course, first in, cyclists you see, always hungry.Within the hour the place was full. Service remained excellent, food was delicious, all in all, a simply great evening.

Le Saint Louis is our favourite restaurant in Vitre and a dinner here is the highlight of our holiday. The owner doubles as maitre d' and waitress and her husband is the chef. The menu is varied and the surroundings unique. I had grilled snails with saled as a starter with canelle(lady duck) as the main course with nice veg. We all enjoyed our meal and wine.

We had dinner in the inner courtyard of the restaurant. My table of three has chosen for the ⬠25 euro menu. Great starters (the marinated salmon and the nems filled with duck) and excellent main courses. In particular the veal kidney with pasta was excellent. Very attentive and friendly staff. A wine with corck was already identified by the staff before the guest could identify. Chapeau! One little detail for improvement (but by far balanced out by the positive points): do not use the same cutlery for the starter and the main plate. When the starter is fish and the main plate is meat or vice versa this can be detrimental to the taste of the main plate. And even with a ⬠25 euro menu you almost don't spare labour and cleaning costs when you change cutlery in between! And as an entrepreneur I think always in terms of cost containment! ;-)

Nice looking place in the heart of medieval Vitre, La Soupe offers slightly chaotic hospitality with reasonably good food at a fair price. My tip, stick to the terrace or street level, don't get put into their downstairs room, it's dark and musty.sorry you've choose the wrong place at your taste, the room downstairs is a part of the castle, and one of the best place to be, not musty believe me!see you never!

We ordered the menu of the day. Starters were Ok, meat was excellent. It was quite crowed and there is not much space between tables. Service was quick... that quick that we got the impression they were really looking for us leave. They didn't speak English.

Lunchtime and hungry we came across this Brasserie with a set price menu. Three very full courses, inventive and well prepared. The desserts were delicious. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Cute little resto with lots of character.Went there for lunch and the other patrons were all French. The service was great and very friendly. The server explains all the details and ingredients of each dish.A lot of food for reasonable price (15⬠for 3 courses, 12⬠for 2 courses).I was served a large steak, perfectly cooked.Everything is thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients. For dessert I had the rice pudding, which was good but not the best I ever had as stated by a previous reviewer. I appreciated that it was not too sweet. Recommend trying this intimate little restaurant.

A small amazingly slickly run restaurant from such a small kitchen! Limited menu choice but everything looked and tasted great. There appeared to be little open on Sunday night in old Vitre but this place was a little gem. My fish was perfectly cooked. Finished off with a lovely creme brulee which was flambeed at our table.
