La fleur de sel

We visited this creperie in July after a long day we spent in Gigondas and in Vaison-la Romaine. After the dinner it was foreseen to travel further north 2-3h.We arrived around 20.00h.In general: It was the day of the dance festival in Vaison. We arrived and got quickly a table for 2. The waitress was friendly and her younger colleague as well. He seems to be a nice guy. The waitress answered my questions and so we chose our crepes.I took a complet and my partner a crepe with a local sausage and mustard.Mine was slightly burned and dry at the sides, but hot and okay in taste in the center part. The crepe of my partner was alright. Unfortunately, he found a blue plastic piece in his crepe. He put it aside not wanting to complain. When the waitress arrived (crepes were finished), she asked how were our crepes. I said alright. Then I made her aware of the blue plastic piece. She took it, threw it on the ground and said bizarre. No apology, no offer for a free crepe. Okay. I would have preferred a better reaction. In the meantime we observed that a family was just served their crepes when we finished ours, although they arrived shortly after us. Other couples who arrived way later were served earlier. There seemed to be no system. We ordered our sweet crepes with the young waiter. He said that normally he would not take orders, only serve due to organizational reasons. I did not care, if the two other waiters were too buys to take our order and one is available, why not? After all we had still to drive 2-3 hours. That's when it hit us and we were the unlucky party. We waited 20 minutes until I asked the young male waiter where our crepes were. He came back empty handed and said they were sitting on the counter for a while. 5minutes later they arrived. Too bad the hot apple mix was cold, the crepes were cold. They tasted good, but could have tasted better if they had been hot. Quel dommage. :(We went inside to accelerate the payment process, still no excuse for the plastic, long waiting time, or the cold sweet crepes. The restaurant was too busy to handle all customers. Tables were left full with used dishes. We left the restaurant at around 22h. This is a bit too long for just two crepes for each person.

We had a family lunch on the terrace of this restaurant located in the main square of Vaison. We took various dishes (I had the codfish with tagliatelle pasta) and they were all fine. Service was friendly and relatively fast although the restaurant was quite busy.

We took the formula of entree and main dish for 22 euros which is good value, especially considering the innovative way each dish was presented. My 2 courses were delicious. Pleasant friendly service too. A pity that the wine by pichet ( we had red) was truly awful. The bread was awful too. Surely there is good wine and bread available at Vaison? The wine and bread let down what would otherwise have been a really good meal.

NOTE: As of April, NEW owners are a husband and wife team. We arrived for dinner after a botched reservation at another highly reviewed restaurant in Vaison. One word OUTSTANDING!Lovely ambiance, attentive service, and extraordinary, delicious food presented beautifully. We ate there three nights and each meal was different, delicious, and special. No detail was left to chance. A feast for the eyes and palate; fresh, creative, and artistic. This team has eye for creating a memorable dining experience, and comes with extraordinary experience - Four Seasons, Relais Chateaux and other 5 star establishments. Seriously, we travel extensively and without doubt, one of the best restaurants we have been to, and certainly, the loveliest of hosts! Make your reservation! We were fortunate to discover them early and it won’t be long until this place is booked solid. The outdoor terraces over the river will open soon.

Booked here last minute and very pleased as they had a special truffle menu.We started with something similar to a loose scrambled egg with truffle. Followed by small ravioli with a cheese filling and truffle. Main course was veal, again with truffle. This wasn't just shavings of truffle either...each course came a decent amount of sliced truffle. We each had a different final course of cheese and Grand Marnier creme brulee. The creme brulee having a seriously heavy dose of alcohol in it. A good value meal though at 42 euros per head.Service was fine, the only issue I had is that in the corner of the dining room they had a desk set up with a laptop where they were managing bookings incl the phone ringing on and off throughout the meal.

Like most in town, in an unpretentious building we found an absolutely perfect meal. Both the fresh fish and spring lamb we're prepared and presented beautifully. The entree fish salad and dessert featured local fresh produce. The complimentary extras included olives and polenta chips, cream and nuts. The local house vin rouge was smooth and flavorful.

This is a small local restaurant in the medieval quarter. Not very easy to find but well worth the effort. Lovely food, limited seating, booking ahead recommended for their “home style menu”. Just perfect for a family or friends lunch.Dinner not served. A must be there for a visit to Vaison. There are plenty of restaurants catering for the tourist visitor but La Caillette is a gem and inexpensive.hithanks for compliments..... happy to saw you in the restaurant thierry
