Very smart inside and out. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Large choice of drinks that were quickly served even when busy. Great choice of tapas style dishes. We particularly enjoyed the brochette de boeuf with bearnaise sauce and gambas dishes. Sardines was tasty but unusually served in the tin, very novel. Highly recommended and will be our first choice if we return.

frederic grobost Chef and Owner of the Xaya offers a generous and delicious cuisine made with fresh seasonal products. Seafood from the fish market located close to the restaurant, small producers across the Halles or selected meat of the Basque Country "
Having been here many times for lunch and really enjoyed it, we tried coming in the evening recently and tried the pintxos menu (unavailable at lunchtime) which contains a number of delights including the excellent wake me salad and the equally good squid with black ink orzo. The staff were as charming and attentive as ever.

We decided that a lovely lunch was on the cards..so a 2hr trip to Zoko Moko - and as usual, it was absolutely FABULOUS - A simply delicious lunch - the freshest of ingredients, unbeatable value at lunchtime - more expensive in the evening, and we haven't been for a while as it involves a hotel - in order to avail of a great wine list!!A 2hr drive home and still smiling about our delicious lunch. The Brunch house is a gem of a find on the boardwalk over looking the sea in St-Jean-de-Luz. The food is superb, delicious, fresh and healthy with a comfy relaxed beach shack vibe. The drinks and juices are organic and equally delicious and all delivered by super friendly staff. I am writing this after my 4th visit in a week for either breakfast or brunch - my family including 2 teenage daughters loved the place. We are really pleased to know how you have enjoyed your time with us, and will be always really happy to have you and your familly for à breakfast or brunch,See you soon,Amandine

A very French family oriented restaurant, serving fantastic and good value seafood. Our group had the sole and the cod for two and both dishes were excellent. Itâs not haute cuisine, and the mains come without fancy accompaniment, but the quality of the ingredients and the cooking were right on the mark. Some excellent and good value wines too.

This restaurant is in the newer part of Socoa between the motorway and the old port and offers modern decor. It is near Lidl. Tapas are a speciality as are Basque dishes. We chose a set price menu and started with tapas - one each of a wide variety of delicacies. For my main course I had chipirons - baby squid in a sauce - delicious. My wife had a fairly standard steak. Desserts were again a selection - this time only 3 differennt small ones. Several tables had been reserved, always a good sign. By the time we left there was not a spare table inside. Admittedly it was a Saturday night but it was end September.Service was efficient.

Friendly servers and there is not a better place to be around St. Jean de Luz when the moon is rising over the hills. The restaurant is located on the port and there is no car traffic allowed here during the day but parking is allowed in the evening. Lovely walks around the walls to walk off the meal. My scallop dish was very good

Reasonably priced Michelin star restaurant with nice atmosphere and great food. We had the asparagus and octopus plates which were all excellent, well presented and with several other refined accompainments. Topped it off with the Grand Marnier soufflé. Unless you are a very picky eater, you can't go wrong in here if you got the budget.

We found out Bantu Chez Mattin by chance as we were staying just 5 mins along the same street for a 3 day break. Our host recommended this and also Maitinea - also worth a visit. We managed to get a table for our last night and on a Wednesday evening in September it was still full. The food is jus superb and worthy of all the reviewsWe had the millefeuille - layers of foie gras, smoked trout and thinly sliced green apple and also the Japanese ravioll stuffed with black pudding served with langoustine tails. Both delicious! For mains we had the turbot - served expertly by the waitress.Too full for desert.Despite what other reviewers have said about no English spoken, whilst the waitresses donât speak English the lady owner, who introduces the specials each evening, speaks perfectly good English and will help those having difficulty understanding the menus.Just canât recommend this more highly, one of the best restaurants Iâve been in!

... actually got a nice one, but a bit on the hard side and definitely not at the level of others had in the area. Overall enjoyable dinner, big portions and a very nice athmosphere.
