Serving the very best of local and home grown produce in the beautiful surroundings of tranquil lily ponds. A daily changing menu of classic British and European dishes with a select wine list.
We were staying with friends in Truro who very kindly took us for lunch at Penrose Kitchen. It was a wet and miserable day and the restaurant didnât look particularly inviting from the outside. However, our friends also love good food and had dined there several times so we were still hopeful of a tasty lunch. As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly greeted by Sam and as we looked around were pleasantly surprised by the warm and cosy décor. Sam and her front of house team are friendly and helpful but not intrusive which can be a rarity. The food, particularly the first course of slow cooked lamb, was soft, tasty and absolutely perfect. We have eaten lamb on a couple of occasions in restaurants since our visit (including one with a Michelin star) and both my husband and I found this dish to be far superior and are using Benâs lamb as the benchmark. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking to Ben after our lunch and had to be dragged away by our friends so that he and Sam could prepare for dinner that evening. I love everything they are doing here particularly keeping it local and sustainable and it was evident that Ben is very passionate about food. I have one regret â that this restaurant is more than 300 miles from home!

The Cutty Sark has an informal pub style dining area on the upper level as well as more formal restaurant on the ground floor that is also available for private party hire.
I booked a table by phone and was surprised to find the Pub restaurant almost empty. We were worried whether this was because the food was not up to much but were in for a surprise. The roast lamb with vegetables we ordered was lovely and rich, very tasty.Quite a different experience from other Sunday roasts in town recently, which haven't been up to scratch one way or another, from lukewarm or uncrispy roast potatoes or swimming in gravy. We found out later that the Pub had only just restarted offering Sunday lunches.Definitely worth another visit or two.

More a dining experience than a restaurant. A beautiful menu of modern British cuisine with a European influence. Bustopher Jones also offers an extensive wine list to compliment the food with a unique selection of cocktails.
Our visit for drinks and dinner on 3 October revealed an exceptional West Country restaurant. Service was fabulous, led by Jake Conway and his colleagues. Suggested wine choices were delicious, fun stories were swapped with the BJ team and the food was superb. This has to be one of Truroâs finest places to eat and drink. I shall be back...

The Dining Room at The Nare offers a traditional British table d'hote menu that changes daily. A big supporter of local farmers, the restaurant specialises in locally reared beef and the freshest of locally caught seafood; Portloe lobster is available eve
Called in on spec, salivating for a fresh crab sandwich. The service at the Quarterdeck is impeccable and attentive, but sadly the crab sandwich tasted and looked like crab mixed with Heinz Sandwich Spread. An interesting enough recipe, but all I wanted was some (okay, a lot of) fresh crab between two slices of bread.

Weâre one of Truroâs most popular places to eat, meet and drink. The atmosphereâs informal and relaxed and all budgets are catered for. We have everything from prime rib steaks butchered on the premises, fresh local fish, aromatic sizzling platters, right
Great food and cocktails which all enjoyed. Glad booked table as very busy when we arrived. Good staff. Only issue was the wait after the starters, was informed about a delay with the one meal when ordered as it takes longer to cook but maybe that should have been taken into consideration when the starters went out. Bizarly that dish arrived 5mins before the others! Enjoyable night anyway. Would go back.Hello catsailor2014We would love to see you back and remember that we are always here to talk to you about issues that may arise during service whether it's an issue with the food or as you mention a timing issue. All your comments will be shared with the team and we appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to write a review and for mentioning that the night was enjoyable.

Nigel Tabb is the best chef in town and further afield for that matter. His menus are well crafted and brilliantly balanced. You will get excellent food cooked with passion and care. The same passion and care will be seen in the service you receive. The wine list is exceptional value for money with a selection of sensational offerings by the glass and by the bottle. This is a special dining experience not to be missed. Booking is essential.

We could go on, but let's leave that to the Guide Books. Come and experience Driftwood's Michelin Starred Restaurant for yourself. There are no extravagant promises, only a guarantee of the freshest, finest food, served with stunning views across the sea.
Wow, what an amazing birthday treat!! Hubby and I enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu and each course was a delicious work of art. It was almost painful to cut into the beautiful spectacle on the plate in order to eat it, but each mouthful was divine.I would echo other reviewers in that the male maitre-dâ came across as supercilious which is a shame; and is certainly out of place in a modern restaurant. He should follow the example of the waitresses who all managed to be efficient yet friendly and helpful. Thankfully this was just one employee with a poor attitude so I would have no problem in recommending this restaurant.Thank you, I am so pleased you enjoyed your experience but disappointed with your comment on our Restaurant Manager with whom I will obviously discuss your views. I do hope we will see you again.

Roovrays comes highly recommended...And a Charming and ambient evening awaits you...Tastefully decorated with a French influence due to the French Chef and owner. Great value is offered with the Early Bird menu from 6pm till 6.45pm with 2 courses being £1
You really are spoilt for quality restaurants in Mevagissy. Roovrays has a great selection on the menu, and all were beautifully cooked. Nice friendly and helpful service, good size helpings, and all tasted really fresh. We had the monkfish which we would especially recommend. We then came back another day, and the food was just as good. The place is quite small, so we would recommend you book.
