While visiting the Languedoc-Rousillon region of southern France, we happened upon this wonderful restaurant. The museum of art we planned to visit was not open so we ambled along winding roads in the foothills of the Pyrenees and followed signs to Castelnou, an 11th century town that is designated one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France."We stepped into the first restaurant we passed and were immediately charmed by the 2-story interior space and the friendliness of the proprietors. We were seated upstairs in a small cozy dining room near the hearth. Our meals were simple but excellent - a hearty salad for my husband and an omelet and salad for me. The meal was accompanied by crusty French bread and a bottle of crisp and delicious local white wine recommended by the hostess. This was one of those unplanned experiences that we will always have fond memories of and we look forward to a return trip.

Fantastically located restaurant in the picture postcard village of Castelnou, in the shadows of the chateau and overlooking the valley.Lunch here on sunny (but windy!) afternoon. The food was modest, not exceptional in any way. Service was fine. Prices reasonable.Would recommend for the location alone.

We went there 2 weeks ago on our way to Spain. It was a Sunday night and was the only restaurant open in the town.We found it easily, being on the edge of town.We both had steaks, which were cooked to perfection. We were given complementary home made soup, bread and water. The Creme Brûlée dessert was also homemade and absolutely exquisite. The waiter was extremely helpful and attentive, ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction. The only downside is that there were only 2 other customers in there, making the ambience a little flat.

...is having Sunday lunch at Cortie , after mass [messe] at the nearby church. Meals on other days are also good. After living here for a year and done the restaurant rounds for quality, quantity and cost I find Cortie to be the best.A pensioner must consider all three points.Reception to all, I've noticed, is always a welcoming smile. The Proprietor, Francois, speaks excellent English. Food is well presented and cooked to order. The hors-d'oeuvre is a self service affair; good selection of tasty morsels. If feeling like a piggy you can have another helping. What's the rush. Enjoy. For a particular main course the perpetrator of the '' Horrible!'' review, I've just read, moves me to comment on the Chicken a la Catalane. The sauce is thick, dark and rich with a mix of veg that can't be found in tin.To put the record straight , ref the ''Horrible'' person's poor sense of awareness [ or deliberate lies ] of what surrounds him/her.... The tiny room [reduit ] does not exist , nor does the existence of waste bins and cartons. Yes there is a room alongside the terrace, which contains a long table, etc. for staff refreshment use only, outside business hours. The ''Horrible'' idiot must have, in error, turned into the local decheterie and instead of 'Cortie' read 'Loti' [as in 'mal loti', meaning badly off which I would translate as 'on the nose']. Enough said. From a Welshman who loves his French food.

Lovely place, has a (perhaps too-) wide menu, not surprising knowing the chef is from the Perigord & has settled in P.O. Good "gourmet menus" featuring different French cuisine styles & all very well done. Friendly, helpful front-of-house keep things ticking along nicely. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

If you are in or anywhere near Thuir then you should seek out this great little restaurant.Firstly the welcome is very friendly and creates a very warm atmosphere. The menu is small and reflects the policy of freshly prepared simple dishes. This is my second visit and if anything was better than the first. On both occasions we ate outside which is a very pleasant experience.Inside is quite small and has a very intimate atmosphere. The food is tasty and the service friendly and prompt. In summary a great little restaurant

Fabian an excellent chef with his wife Patricia have never failed to serve up first class food on our visits. They feature the cuisine of a different country changing on a weekly basis. Good value as well.Surely this restaurant deserves more than only 4 diners on a Satyrdy evening? Keith and Sheila.

We lunched with a French friend and were all very happy with our meal and the service. We stuck to the fixed menu which offers limited choice but good value, and a moderately priced bottle of white. The quality of preparation and flavours of the dishes were excellent. The food here is a little bit out of the ordinary, and also good value. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Restaurant De Specialités Moules Frites Notre Carte Est Renouvelée Chaque Semaine Nous Servons Ãgalement Des Plats Catalents Et Belge
We were passing through Thuir and decided to lunch on a Sunday. Little was open and this restaurant at first seemed to lack any allure. However we chose to sit outside where à la carte and a set menu was on offer (this latter is rare on weekends). We chose the set menu and for a very reasonable price received apéritif, canapés, choice of hors d'oeuvres, main course and dessert. The place is run by a Belgian and the menu reflects this; although there are many locally flavoured dishes there is a big choice of mussels & frits as well as some Belgian specialities. Everything seemed "fait maison" and dishes were fresh and elegantly prepared for a small roadside café. Good service and friendly staff.
