We had previously stayed here 3 years ago and enjoyed the food then. The repeat experience was no disappointment. Friendly service, nice choice of wines and an amazing menu, based on a South African theme with spring bok and other unusual meats. The food just melted on the toungue. Normal meats / fish are also on the menu fo rhte less adventerous. We will go back next time we are in the area.

HERBERG- RESTAURANT de BOSWACHTER is situated in the little village of SLENAKEN , The Netherlands, alongside the River Geul. It is quite an attractive little village to pass through. We did so en-route to Valkenberg and stopped at this restaurant for our lunch. Opposite the restaurant is a very spacious car park. It is a popular resort for holiday makers and has a few hotels/restaurants nearby. We visited HERBERG-RESTAURANT de BOSWACHTER during the last week of March. The village was busy with tourists as it was getting near in time to the Cycling Races in The Netherlands. This restaurant is a little smaller than the others nearby. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. They speak good English. From the menu we chose pork snitzel, chips ( fries) and side salad, followed by a cup of delicious coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It was freshly cooked and was well presented, though we found the portions to be somewhat small for the price charged.

We stopped there for lunch halfway through a beautiful hike between Fourons le Compte and Noorbeek. We chose the blood pudding croquettes and the Stilton salad for the main courses and the gourmand coffee and a dame blanche for dessert. They were all very tasty with obviously fresh ingredients and nicely presented. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere inside very old Dutch. We loved it.We paid 55 eur for both of us including two beers : very reasonable taking account of the quality.

Though not quite your intimate setting, the restaurant offers good quality and we were not hurried up by the staff. A very enjoyable place for dinner, if weather permist on their terrace which offers a splendid view. Suggestion, in case you like white wine: take the Gerardushoeve house wine (Johanniter), it's fairly good!!

A visit to the Atelier is always again a surprising journey along tastefully presented dishes with inventive combinations of first class products, accompanied by a fine variety of wines or non-alcoholic fruitjuicessappen. A warm competent service supports you through this wonderful experience. Five stars are usually only reserved for the perfect experience and this was one of those !

I visited this restaurant on a business trip. I dined alone. This is really a great grill resaturant. I had the steak (400gr). It was baked to excellence, the meat was very very tender. As a free starter I was offered a garlic soup, nothing wrong with it.compliments to the chef, I will be back !

In this little and quiet village lies a nice restaurant. Itâs a little drive from Maastricht. If it is a sunny day you can use the terrace at the water. On the otherside of the water is Belgium. Relaxed atmoshere and friendly staff. Food and drinks are very good.
